Question about Home Security

Can you help me to stop my cameras from flickering and being Black and WHite?

I have a swan dvr8-4000. It was working fine and then all of a sudden the cameras turned black and white and are flickering. all of the camera. I checked all the cables and they are all still secure. I am thinking it might be a setting in my DVR setup that may possibly have been changed, but I am not sure what. Can you please help me?

Most likely this is either an issue with a custom white balance, color tone, or the image sensor is starting to go.

Set the white balance to AWB (menu -> W.Balance).

Try to adjust the color (usually has options like sepia, cyan, black and white normal, etc).

If these fail a lot of cameras have a reset to factory settings.

If none of these suggestions work, its probably the image sensor.

Please leave feedback if this was helpful. Thanks!

Black and white only

Well - it's fixed - but no thanks to anything I did.  It's just all of a sudden working fine again.  I tried three different dvd's the other night, and all were black and white.  But last night the same dvd's were back to colour.  Who knows?
But thanks for asking.

It sounds like your CCD image sensor is bad. Canon has issued a world wide technical notice regarding this, and will repair it at no cost if this is determined to be the problem, regardless of warranty.

Check to see if the flash has been set to a lower power or underexposes via a +/- setting. If not, warranty repair unless the camera has been damaged.

TV picture flickers

If your DVD player is separate from your tv, you might have a loose cable plug or connection. Depending on the type of flicker you have, a vertical circuit loose connection would cause this. If you could connect it to a cable or antenna it might tell you where the problem is located. A faulty circuit in the DVD might cause this too. Stargazer
