Question about Dyson DC35 Handheld Vacuum

Open Question

Our Dc35 motor surged for a couple second then went dead. What happened?

Our Dc35 motor surged for a couple of seconds then stopped working. It is completely dead. The light did illuminate when hooked to the charger. After charging, it's still not working. Any insights on what to fix or where to begin troubleshooting it? Thanks.

Brush on a Dyson DC35 stops rotating. I cleared it of any debris, cleaned off the roller, no obstructions in the tube, and it kept doing it.

Hi Aaron, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC35. If the replacement motorised cleaner head hasn't resolved the issue, there could be an issue with the wand, main body or battery. We're happy to help you check for this, which should avoid you having to order further parts until we've determined which part is actually at fault. We can also confirm whether or not your machine is still covered under the Dyson warranty.

When you have your DC35 fully charged and easily to hand, please contact our experts so we can talk you through some simple diagnostic checks. You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

My Dyson DC35 stalls. I've thoughly clean it, so it's not a clog problem

1st make sure battery is fully charged.
Next, wash the filter, just follow the instructions in the manual.
If the filter is clogged the motor will try to run but then cut out to protect the motor from damage.

Hi Laurie, it's Jack at Dyson.

We'd advise against dismantling your DC35 any further than is shown in the user guide, as this could cause damage to the machine. DC35's V2 digital motor is manufactured in a clean-room environment - it should not be removed from the main body.

If your DC35 doesn't seem to be working correctly we'd appreciate the opportunity to take some further details. You can reach our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to hearing from you.

      Stick vacuum DC35

Hi Cathy, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC35 will make a pulsing sound to indicate that something is blocking the airflow through the machine. Although I note you've already checked for this, the issues you've described strongly suggest a blockage inside the motorised floor tool that you may have missed. This would also explain the loss of performance you've noticed.

In this instance I would encourage you to get in touch with our experts directly so we can walk you through some troubleshooting checks, as we should be able to resolve this right over the phone. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

We'll look forward to hearing from you.

Loss of suction and sounds like motor is juddering after a few seconds use

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

A pulsating sound from the motor, along with a loss of pick-up performance, will be due to a blockage somewhere in the machine - in the cleaner head, in the wand, or in the bin inlet. For help checking for this and removing any obstructions, please take a look at our online Support guide:

      http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc35/dc35-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-wand

You may also want to take a look at the video below for guidance on removing any threads, hair or other obstructions from the brush bar and cleaner head.
I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but for any further assistance please give our Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).
