I don't think that is it, because the User's Guide says that it can receive digital signals. It says, "Your TV is capable of receiving both off-air (via antenna) digital signals and cable/analog signals. The off-air digital signal can be used by both high definition and stqandard definition TV's."

When I say won't turn on, I mean not at all. Can't get to the menu, buttons on the set and on the remote do absolutely nothing. Trouble shooting in the booklet suggests it might be locked (something about V-chip technology), but the solutions it offers don't work.

We moved our RCA TV Model #27F634T from one house to another. It worked before the move at a house that had cable. In its new location, it simply won't turn on and none of the buttons on the TV or the remote will do anything. The user's guide suggests that "the front panel lock may be on," as part of the set's V-chip controls, then refers me to another page about resetting the password by pressing "VOL-" on the front panel and "Clear" on the remote, but this hasn't worked. Any ideas?

Thank you for your thoughts. I will try that approach. So far, taking off the back seems more complicated that it sounds.

Meanwhile, maybe some additional info would help to clarify why I thought it was a Vchip/front lock problem.

The user's guide, under troubleshooting, says that when the tv won't turn on, "the front panel lock may be on."

There is some power getting to the tv, because, when plugged in the red light that is part of the sensor for the remote goes on. I can get it to glow steadily or flash rhythmically. No sign of life in the screen in either case. So, maybe it is about power to the screen.

    Hi,

Well, I bought some tools and sort of got the back of the tv off, but I'm definitely in over my head. I can't get the back off enough to really inspect inside (circuit board seems still attached to back, while wired to the screen). Without a diagram of what is supposed to be where, I probably can't find what I'm supposed to be looking for. Is there a diagram somewhere? the RCA site seemed singularly unhelpful.

    Thanks again.

If the problem just happen when it was moved there is two possibilities
number one there is no power on the power outlet. tray moving to a efferent room or plunging a different
device like a lamp to the same outlet of the TV and see if you have any power.
the possibility number tow is than some one drop the TV or bump the bottom part of it and cause a crack on the circuit board or in a component solder.
if that is the case is going to meed some soldering.
to repair the broken solder or the broken copper lines on the circuit board.

Your TV is not turning on because the mainboard is damaged, the mainboard is where you plug the video or antenna.
It is easy to replace, you will need your product code and model number to order a new one, those numbers are located in the back of the TV next to the serial number.

Lots of TV´s got damaged while moving, and I believe this is what happened to your TV.

If you have any question feel free to ask me.

Heres the thing, if your TV was vchip locked, you should still be able to turn the TV on but a password screen will pop up. In your case, nothing happens so this problem is a power issue. Its possible that while the TV is it transport, it might have been rattled causing wires inside the TV to get loose. another posibility is a blown fuse. If you can open the back of the TV, try to check the fuse inside. If its burn, just change that fuse with the same specs and you are good to go. again, this is not a vchip issue...

the tv got dust when placed out say u need to clean the inside of the light engine, the lamp too but be careful u must use only methylated spirit with a new soft dry bristle brush caution if u touch the lamp with your hands u will shorten its life. the color wheel inside the light engine needs to be cleaned the same way too make sure u do not spill any thing in the components and of course the tv must be off nand left to dry before restarting

Remote to tv doesn't work

Hello
Check the remote first for its infrared emission. If it is OK, the infrared sensor inside your tV is faulty. It should be replaced with same type and number. It can be located just behind the infrared window at the front panel of your Tv. You ahve to open your TV ot access it. It will have three solder terminals, and will look somehat brownish black in colour. Will look like this.

Big screen tv turns on and off on its own!

Your TV is being overheated by the location it is placed. try moving it in an airy area and see if the problem still occurs. The turning on and off is a response to overheating sensors in the TV housing and if not rectified it could malfunction and may cause burnout, a possible risk of fire.

If the green port doesn't work I read on another forum that
you may be able to use a dvd recorder unit to take the av in and then it can re transmit the video to an output as component out on some dvd recorders.

No sound from left fronts (A+B) in TV mode.

Just check the rca cables. Try wiggling the cables as well. If they are the plastic rca cables, they do to wear out quick.
If it is not the cables, than it is a shorted resistor in the channel sound output

How do we adjust our tv

You didn't mention anything about a cable box, VCR, etc. which might be connected. A snowy pic. means simply, inadequate signal is reaching the tuner, or the TV tuner itself is bad. If the first is so... check your cabling. If you have a VCR or DVD player hooked in between the cable box or outside antenna (whichever is the case), VCR (RF or ant.) out should go to the TV, VCR antenna (RF or ant.) input to the cable box. Also check the cable wire itself. If you look at the end of the cable, you should see a relatively thin center wire. This center conductor is what carries the signal. If it is missing, bent over, or too short to make contact with whatever it is connected to, you will have a very snowy pic. If you have a spare TV, connect it in place of your "new" TV, to narrow down the problem. Lastly, if all is well with hookup, cabling, etc. the TV might have a problem. Sometimes the tuner has a component defect, or the coaxial connector can be broken.

No Picture

As long as you can hook that same cable up to a different TV and get a good picture, you must have somehow damaged the tuner on the APEX - unless the set was mishandled while moving. Those cheaper brands won't take much punishment.
