hi, the front of the manual says,,atmospheric models,,206A,266A, 336A, AND 406A,,,Low NOx models,207A, 267A,337A AND 407A,,,if that helps,, is also connected to natural gas,,we had it serviced 2weeks ago due to black soot exhaust,,the cause of that was a large mouse nest was blocking the coils and burners, it has been working fine since we got that cleaned out. yes my husband is very handy at repairing things.

Will do in the morning,,he is in bed as it is 1am, can u see the valve by inspecting the heater? are you thinking maybe air in the lines or something along that idea?

  • goldace888 Jun 23, 2009

hi,,he works tomorrow from 7am till about 430pm,,can he reach you by phone at that time?

  • goldace888 Jun 23, 2009

Hi Richard,,the man that serviced the heater is contracted from International pools in Oshawa. Anyways,,I tried to call you at 1-866-580-4822,,is this the correct #,,,it says out of service.

  • goldace888 Jun 23, 2009

tried that to,,says page unavailable,,,,by the way,,the valve on the heater is the Honeywell Millivolt gas valve,,if that helps.

Hi Richard, the pool heater was installed on june 27/07,,,,should it still be under warranty?

  • goldace888 Jun 23, 2009

Hey Richard,, the heater was installed by an independant company that does central air, furnaces etc. we called the pool company to come look at it due to the installing company saying they were just to busy to get here and look at it, or simply just not calling us back. Anyhow,,I have just put another frustrating call into them explaining the problem and he said it sounded possibly like the pressure switch, however getting someone here to check it out clearly seems to be there issue. We will give it till the end of the day 2 see if they are able to get someone to stop by, if not, I will get back to you,,thx so much for everything so far, and have a great day!

Ask your husband to look in that manual on page 5 and tell me which gas valve you have?

What is the specific model number? Or better yet, does it have electrical power to it, or self contained? If it does not have electrical power wired to it you could have one of many problems. 1st primary question is: Are you mechanically inclined? If so, let me know and I will provide you with step by step procedures to locate the cause of the problem.

Its just after 1 am here as well, Ontario Canada. Yes, you have to remove the front lower panel by raising it then pulling out at the bottom. Then compare the valve you have with the 2 in the picture on pg 5. If it is easier, you can have your husband call me while doing this and I can talk him through it. My contact information is located on the main page of my company website www.emshvac.com

Thanks
Richard

I recall you mentioned that your pool heater was serviced 2 weeks ago? Is that correct? If so, you may be able to have the servicing contractor back to correct this issue under warranty service. Was is a pool company or a hvac company?

Yes, that number is off. I am currently changing all my numbers from Bell to vonage and they are having issues getting bell to release my old numbers. I will update the main page within the next 5 minutes to show my cell number. or email me directly at rjohnson@emshvac.com and I will email it to you.

Here is the link to the warranty page from raypak. It shows only 1 year http://www.raypak.com/uploads/6000.95.pd... but your installing contractor may have provided a longer warranty, I never do less than 5 years on everything we install. Very odd for that new of a raypak to be acting up, they are very reliable and I have put in many over the years and service some that are in excess of 30 years old that work as well as they did when they were new. I am guessing that you had your pool company install it, which I disagree with. For some reason pool companys like to get people to change boilers more often than needed rather than repairing or doing proper service on them. I will come out if you want, this weekend and chedk the boiler and can let you know exactly what is wrong and you may be able to get your pool company to do the repair, possibly for free. I will not charge you for the dianostic on-site visit.

You can call me directly at 647-938-6357.

to test the pilot, you can use a torch to keep the sensor hot. if it still won't stay on, you have a bad flame sensor sometimes called either a thermopile or thermocouple. very easy to replace.

Is your pilot light blue with no traces of yellow in the flame? If it has any traces of yellow in the flame the pilot assembly will need to be removed, disassembled and cleaned. If it has a blue flame, and the flame is hitting on the pilot mv generator (either a round rod or flat bar) you will probably need to replace the pilot mv generator.

Strange flame on versa raypak

Part of your fire tile (white like) has fallen into your pilot area and is messing with the gas/air mix. Cleaning it out should clear the pilot and have it return to a nice blue flame. If you can get a look inside the unit from a mirror to be sure the area of tile damage is minimal you should be ok. Of course to be on the same side you may want to call in a heater tech to tear it down and be sure the fire box is still sound.
