Question about D-Link AirPlus DI-524 Wireless Router

1 Answer

Wireless network connection is established but still getting "Server not found" error in IE

I'm having problems getting my new laptop hooked into my wireless network. I have a existing wireless network (DI-524) that works fine for my desktop and my oldlaptop but can't get this new laptop to work. I've checked all the settings (DHCP enabled and WPA-PSK) to ensure that they match my router's info but when i do this and try to connect to my network it states"unable to acquire a connection" and remains in this idle-like mode.
I also tried manually entering in an IP address (within the range of what's stated on my D-link settings), subnet mask & the default gateway. When i do that, I'm able to connect to the wireless network but when i try to open Internet Explorer the page says "Not connected to Server".
I'm completely out of ideas on what could be the cause of my problems. If you have any advice i'd greatly appreciate it.

Hi,

My name is Laxman.,
your two computers working fine with the wireless connection but new laptop not working with it. I am not sure about the operating system of your computer.
If it is Win XP, then follow this instruction.,,
- Go to wireless connection properties and check the "Preferred Networks" , if you have any in ther,. delete it.

Check this link for wireless configuration in XP computer.
http://www.portforward.com/help/wirelessxp.htm

Still if you have any problem, you may try this option :-
- Click start and go to RUN, Type in " services.msc ", you can see the Services window with bunch of services in there. please find " Wireless Zero Configuration ". make sure its enabled. If its enabled, right click on it & go to properties. you can Stop and restart the wireless zero configurations. And check your wireless connection.

SOURCE: enable WPA-PSK

Step 1 Log into the web-based configuration by opening up a web browser and typing in the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1). Step 2 The default username is admin (all lower case) and the password is blank (nothing). Click OK. Step 3 Click on the Home tab and then click Wireless on the left hand side. Step 4 Select WPA-PSK using the radio buttons. Step 5 Enter a key (passphrase). The key is an alpha-numeric password between 8 and 63 characters long. The password can include symbols (!?*&_) and spaces. Make sure you enter this key exactly the same on all other wireless clients. Step 6 Click on the Apply button then click on the Continue button to save your settings. Note: If you are configuring your router from a wireless adapter, you will lose connectivity as soon as you click Apply. You must enable WPA-PSK on your adapter and enter the same exact passphrase as you entered on your router.

WPS54G Printer Server Setup

I bought a Linksys Wireless-G WPS54G printer server and trie to put it in my home network. Following the instruction from the manufacturer and spent many hours, I still couldn't make the printer server work. There was no problem to get the IP address from my DHCP server using the wired connection. But when I pulled off the network cable and tried the wireless connection, I got "connection failed" error at the last step to install the printer server. I checked my router's client monitor and found the printer server did get the dynamic IP address wirelessly. When I pinged that IP address, there was no response at all from the printer server. In another word, the printer server couldn't communicate with other devices in wireless mode in the network. I searched the Internet and found there were many users had same problem and couldn't resolve the issue even from the manufacturer technical support. As a last resort before I was going to send back the printer server, I switched the network router to one of a different brand. My previous router was manufactured by BUFALLO INC and the new one was made by D-Link. After I rerun the installation following the instruction, the "connection failed" error was gone. The printer server could work finally.

The tip here is: Try a different brand router when there is a connection failure problem for installing the WPS54G printer server, if possible.

I have a Sylvania 7"

In getting msg server cannot be found: Possible network (our network) could be down, the server at the site you are trying to reach could be down, or adjustments to your settings for the new network upgrade have not been made yet. You may also check the settings of your browser. If you are using IE you may go to Tools, Internet Options, Connections, Lan Settings and make sure NO boxes have check marks in them.

Try to ping the website by going to RUN, type CMD and click on OK, type in ping name of the website and enter. If error local host cannot be found there is something wrong either with your Internet settings or network adapter.

How to add apple McBook to secure network. Changed configuration to secure network and apple laptops cannot connect via wi-fi.

The MAC network card needs configuring with the router's security settings ie. SSID and encryption code etc, otherwise it cannot connect to the router wirelessly.

Lost connectivity to network printer when switched to ATT u-Verse

Is the printer connected via wireless? When I recently connected up a new wireless printer to my UVerse network, the printer manual said that establishing the first connection works better via an Ethernet cable directly to the Uverse router. After the printer is set up once, then I could remove the ethernet cable and connect to the printer via wireless from all my computers.
For all wireless PCs that were previously connected via wireless to dsl, you need to create a new network connection for each one, then enter the key that is listed on the side of your Uverse router when prompted. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to establish the connection.
I am amazed that ATT was so unhelpful on these issues. I was one of their first Uverse customers in Texas, and several times over the last years, techs would visit my house to solve a problem or hook something up, explaining to me as he went. That their helpful attitude is deteriorating is a real shame.
