If you are referring to the hydraulic ram that provides tension to an ore, there is nothing to do but replace it. If the ram side can be unscrewed from the body, it can be rebuilt. There is a plate attached to the ram (shaft or coupling) with a small orifice drilled in it. A spring is normally used to hold the ram in its normal position. The cylinder is filled with hydraulic fluid (usually a light oil). When pressure is applied, the fluid is forced through the orifice as the ram is compressed and slows its movement while absorbing any shock. When the pressure is removed, the spring returns the ram to its original position. The spring (?) is most likely broken if the ram did not return to its original position. If it remains collapsed, there will be no tension. If the ram can not be removed to access the return mechanism, the whole assembly will need to be replaced. I had to guess a little on your exact situation and may have missed here. Please don't hit me too hard if so. If this is off, please give me a more detailed report to work with, OK? Thank you for using FixYa. Roger
