My CCTV is showing hacked on the cameras. How do I reset my password

Your CCTV is connected via an Internet connection.
I'll recommend to isolate the network devices from the Internet before continuing.
This is covering only basic steps, I recommend to get the instruction manual for the CCTV and read it.
  1. Enter the administration section of the CCTV recorder/DCR/NVR by entering your admin account name and password.
  2. Go to the admin setup of the CCTV. Search for overlay and verify if the hacker inserted text on the overlay feature, if you don't use overlay, disable it.
  3. Then check each camera name tags in the admin section. Change the text if it was hacked.
  4. Change the password for the CCTV DVR/NVR/Camera, I bet it was never changed. Write the password down and store it in a safe place.
  5. Last option: If you can't find the place do a factory reset of the DVR/NVR/Camera. (Do make a backup before a factory reset to an external device if possible).
  6. Once the factory reset is done, you will have to reconfigure the recording options for each camera.
  7. Last point after the factory reset, change the admin password.
Are there other devices sharing the Internet connection with the CCTV?
If this answer is YES, then check them for hacker breach.
  1. I'll recommend to increase the security on the Internet Router.
  2. Any device sharing the Internet with the CCTV should be checked for breaches and made secure.
  3. Speak to your ISP and ask for assistance if you have a fixed IP address to your CCTV system. Ask them for advice. Layer 7 routers are more expensive but more secure.
  4. Load all updates for any devices!
Get an IT security expert to assist you with the breach if necessary.

I have a wireless surveillance system, 4 chanel. came with 2 cameras. have purchased additional camera. How do I get the system to accept camera?

I am going to write a short discussion because I feel this subject is best handled by a person that knows what they are doing. There are plenty of Youtube videos that shows you how to install a CCTV system. As you didn't mention what type of CCTV camera it is, can this topic become very lengthy.
Please look at this tutorial on youtube,

The old systems is not difficult to do it yourself if your technical minded, although the newer systems will require some IT background. I recommend a certified installer to assist you, you can damage the camera if you don't know what your are doing.

Get the correct cabling and connectors.
The easiest are the pre-crimped cabling for DIY and it is plug and play. No setup is usually required for the CCTV recorder to work unless the recording on the CCTV was disabled. Any other setup will require special tools.

You get 2 kinds to wired CCTV camera systems.
The old tech is analogue with a thick data cable and set of wire for power.
The professional installed cabling will require a technical person to crimp the CCTV cable with a special BNC crimping tool. The
The old systems needs to have
The newer systems uses LAN cables.
The newer systems requires an IT/CCTV tech person to set it up.

I know the rating is under but most CCTV does not pull the full power.

The only method to confirm the CCTV is to connect you DDM in series in AMP scale and see what it use.
