SOURCE: does not heat ; timer OK, natural gas dryer gas

In most cases, a failure to heat is caused by a blown thermal fuse or high limit thermostat. Usually it is the fuse, but the fuse may be blown due to a defective thermostat. To find the location on your specific machine (and purchase the parts) try To test the fuse, WITH THE MACHINE UNPLUGGED, put an ohmmeter or continuity tester across the fuse with it's wires unhooked. It should have continuity. If it is open, replace it. If the thermal fuse blows, it is fairly common to find the dryer vent partially blocked as well. Make sure it is clear. Thermal fuses are fairly cheap, but you don't want to have to replace it every other week. Good luck.

Check the back of the machine to see if there is a tiny red button. This is a thermal safety cut out button, which you may need to just press to reset

I have a Kenmore 70 series dryer. The dryer runs but will not heat. I have had all fuses, heating element, and thermostats tested but it still will not heat. Any thoughts?

Notes: Check all components on dryer with at least one wire removed and all have continuity or 0 ohms.
Have checked circuit breaker and know for sure 240 volts is going in machine (motor runs on 120v heater needs 240v).
Ok the next thing to do is find the heavy red wire going into the timer. Remove the red wire from the timer. Set the timer on heat dry cycle (power if off) Chck from that leg of the timer to any other leg on the timer for continuity. or 0 ohms. if you get nada then the contacts inside the timer is bad. Dyer will not dry

The CMT switch is the centrifugal motor switch mounted on the dryer motor. It has spring loaded weights that retract it back into the open circuit position between Number 1 and number 2 on either end of the quick connect. These 2 are thick red wires and go to the heater. If the motor is not running the heat will not come on To check the cent switch manuall move it by sliding the black disc on the shaft Then check between the 2 ends to see if you have continuity. The chances of the cent switch being faulty are slim and none. The motor circuit is on 120 volts because the motor is a 120 volt one. Only the heater needs 240 volts. So if one side of the breaker is bad or tripped you might not get any heat. make sure you got 240 between L-1 and L-2. Next thing to check (with machine unplugged) is the fat red wire on the timer. Remove it and check from that leg and any other leg on the timer. If you cannot get a reading between that terminal and any other terminal on the timer and you moved it around the dial to do the check then you have a bad timer.

Dryer's drum won't rotate, but heat & timer works.

Hello there:
This is normally caused by a belt that has either broke or the motor for the belt has failed and locked up
S o what i would do is to first see if you can manually turn the drum by hand and if so than if you turn on the dryer and hear the motor that turns the drum running or humming you can assume that the motor is ok and that he belt has failed in this case get a new belt and the appliance parts store should be able to give you the proper diagram on how the belt needs to back on but if not let me know and i will be able to get it for you ok? now if you do not hear the motor hum than try to unplug the machine and leave sit for 30 min and than plug it back in and than see if it now tries to run but if no motor sound than youwill know that the motor has either failed and needs to be replaced or that there is a problem with the thermal fuse that is on the controle panel behind the start button ok
i can help if there is any more issues that you need help with.
Hope this is very helpful for you.
Best regards michael

I have just moved into a house with a C1920 tumble with no heat

If there is a reset on the back you may have to push pretty hard to reset it. If it doesn't click it may be faulty.

Mine did this. Because the bottom left filter was blocked the overheat cut out had tripped. This is inside the rear of the machine accessible after removing the rear panel
