Hi the wand release button is located directly above the the Cylinder release button. The wand release button looks like the picture below. In order to releease the wand you must firstly make sure the Electrical cable is not wrapped up for storage. So unwrap the electrical cable. then find the item as in the picture. Press this button in and at the same time lift the wand. This will realease the wand from the spine of the Dyson. dumfriesdon.jpg

SOURCE: Hi. I have a Dyson

I think I figured this out. If the hose gets twisted too many times while being used, the pole has a hard time going in and out for removal. (Kind of like how old phone cords got all twisted up after use for a while) To get it out, lift the pole out as far as you can then tug on the hose pulling it down & out ways until you can work the pole all the way up to get it out. Once out, detach the hose from the wand and turn it a few time (I had to go counter clockwise) to un twist the hose a little. Seemed to fix this problem for me.

SOURCE: When I try to release the handle on my Dyson DC28

    Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC28. The cleaner should recline easily into the vacuuming position when one foot is placed on the cleaner head, and the handle is lowered. If it's not doing this, check the clear u-bend at the rear of the machine for obstructions. For guidance on doing this, please see the link to our Support page below:

    http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1236&product=DC28-ANIMAL

After removing any blockages from the u-bend, stand the cleaner upright, and try reclining it again. It might be worth using a little more force than usual, in case the upright lock mechanism has jammed. If this doesn't help, or if you're reluctant to try this, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and provide further assistance. You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON - or if you email your details to [email protected], someone will be in contact as soon as possible.

HVAE LOSS OF SUCTION AT FLOOR LEVEL. how to fix Brush does spin.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC28 picks up from the wand and hose, but not from the cleaner head, it's likely you have a blockage in the cleaner head or in one of the internal ducts.

This is quick and easy to resolve - our Support guide will walk you though each checkpoint: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc28/dc28-animal/diagnosis-root-menu/dc28filterwashvid/wand-suction-dc28/stand-machine-upright-dc28

In normal use, both of DC28's lifetime filters should be washed at least once every 3 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely before replacing them.

I'm confident that washing the filters and removing any blockages will restore full performance. But if you would like some further help from our experts after giving this a try, you're welcome to contact the Dyson Customer Helpline directly. You can reach us by calling 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

No suction when I release the wand

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC28 doesn't seem to have suction through the hose, it's likely you have a blockage in the hose, wand or airway. To check for this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

    Long and short tubing

Hi Sharon, it's Jack at Dyson.

To replace the internal hose (the short section of flexible hose underneath the cleaner head), please follow the steps shown in the video above. The internal hose has a push-fit connection at both ends - please make sure it's pushed firmly into place.

To replace the main hose at the rear of the machine, please take a look at our Support guide: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc28/dc28-animal/diagnosis-root-menu/dc28filterwashvid/wand-suction-dc28/wand-from-hose-dc28/hose-suction-dc28/redirect-to-check-the-hose-dc28/check-the-hose-dc28

If you remove the clear bin and cyclone pack from the machine as if you were about to empty it, you should see the hose release tab to disengage the hose from the machine.

I hope this helps, but if you need any further guidance please email [email protected], and one of our experts will be in touch as soon as possible.

There is a clog in the bottom hose how can i get to it? I have the DC28

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If the internal hose in your DC28 is blocked, you can remove the hose as shown in the video below. The hose has a push-fit design at each end, and should disconnect when you grip the plastic cuffs and pull with a firm, constant force. Once the hose is removed it should be easy to remove the blockage using the eraser end of a pencil or something similar. Please take care not to damage the hose as you do so.

You might also find our online Support guide useful in clearing the blockage: http://content.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1231&product=DC28-ANIMAL

Suction only coming through the wand when its replaced its not switching back to the upright. I have a dyson DC28 animal

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear your DC28 doesn't seem to be working correctly. It sounds as though the change-over valve may be jammed - this diverts the suction to the hose when you remove the wand, and back to the cleaner head when you replace the wand on your machine.

You may find a blockage is jamming the valve - you can check for this using our online Support guide:

If you can't find any obstructions, please get in touch with us directly as we'd appreciate the opportunity to provide further assistance. If you email us at [email protected], we'll be in touch as soon as possible.

I can pull the wand out on the DC28, but I can't find a button to release the wand to go back into the hose. I use a screw driver to push the lock in surley this isn't the only way?

    Hi there,

The wand on your Dyson is designed to retract into the hose automatically when you replace it on the cleaner's main body. You can see how to do this in the user guide supplied with your cleaner. In case you don't have this to hand, here's an online copy:

    http://media.dyson.com/downloads/US/floorcare/Manuals/dc28_opmanual_usa.pdf

You do not need to use any additional tools to retract the wand.

How do you disengage the wand, it is stuck? Can not pull it out.

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC28. If you're having trouble removing the wand, the hose may have been twisted the last time you replaced the wand on the cleaner after use. To release it, try following these simple steps:
    • Pull up the wand as far as it will go
    • With the rear of the cleaner facing you, follow the hose down to its base, then stretch the loose section of hose away from the cleaner
    • Pull the hose release tab to detach the base of the hose from the cleaner
    • Allow the hose to untwist itself
    • Reattach the hose to the cleaner
You should find that by detaching the hose and allowing it to straighten itself, the wand is able to move freely. However, if you're unable to do this, please get in touch with us directly so we can help you further. You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON, or email [email protected]. One of our experts will be happy to provide the assistance you need.

I have a Dyson Animal DC28 and the wand won't pull out. This has just happened out of the blue - I was using it with no trouble up to now. I pull up and it just gets stuck. Any help would be...

    Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC28 Animal. From what you've described, it sounds as though the hose may have been twisted the last time you replaced the wand on the machine. This is easy to resolve by following these steps:
    • Extend the wand upwards as far as possible
    • With the rear of the cleaner facing you, follow the hose down to where it attaches to the cleaner
    • Whilst stretching the loose section of hose away from the cleaner, pull the hose release tab to detach the base of the hose from the cleaner
    • Allow the hose to untwist itself
You should now be able to pull the wand out to it's fullest extent, removing it from the cleaner. Once you've done this, simply reattach the lower end of the hose to the cleaner.

If you have any further questions, or if you'd prefer someone to talk you through this process, you can call us free on 1866MYDYSON.
