SOURCE: sta rite 400na gives error code 05 after about 30 seconds

I am not sure if you have received an answer to the issue, or not, but just in case! An EO5 error code is an open stack flue sensor, or switch, There are two forms of the stack flue sensor, so you will need to know which one you have on the heater.

What this error code means is that the sensor "read" the flue temp to be over 500 degrees. Usually, it is just gone bad and reading the wrong temp.

The users manual for these pool heaters has a chart that walks you through, step by step, a troubleshooting guide. That is the best way to find a solution to your problem because it asks pretty specific questions that you have to be looking at your heater to answer. Here is a link to the pdf file.

Starite sr400lp runs fine ,no errors however water to pool is not hot or even barely warm

With heater running put your hand by the exhaust and see if the air being expelled is hot. It will be if heater is producing heat. Depending on the size of the pool this heater can take some time to heat the water.
