What's the range on GE3-5980A

The GE 3-5980 40-Channel CB Transceiver has a range of 3 miles. (That's the maximum range. Buildings, hills, etc would decrease this unless you use a different antenna plugged into the antenna jack on the side.) Manuals Lib has the manual here: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/382665/Ge-Citizens-Band-Transceiver-3-5980.html .

I hope this helps.

How do I program this unit? I recently got one and found a charger for it and now i would like to use it to listen to the county fire calls so i was wondering if anyone knew how to program this unit.W

What you really have is a transceiver, not a scanner. It is made to transmit on 2 channels an receive on same at about 2-4 watts. I dont know any one that can program it, because these are long gone from service.

GLC-SX-MMD and GLC-SX-MM, are they compatible with each other?

Yes, the GLC-SX-MMD and GLC-SX-MM are compatible with each other, and the difference between the two is that the GLC-SX-MMD transceiver has additional support for Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) capability. What is this? my Icom IC-F4029SDR displays 'sorry'

It appears that the radio has been locked out from service. Return it to whom you got it from.

From pg 35 of the manual:
D D Stun and Revive
The dispatcher can send MDC 1200 signals that will stun or
revive your transceiver. If a Stun command is received that
matches your station ID, the transceiver will display "SORRY"
and you can not receive or transmit. When a Revive com-
mand is received that matches your station ID, normal operation is restored.
