Picture goes out on occasion

Tv has always taken a little time to get picture when turned on, now screen will go black for several mins and come back

sems like your pisture tube for the tv is going slowly out. replace the tube or replace the tv, its cheaper to replace the tv then a new tv screen colour tube.

Capacitors on the power pack are going bad they need to be replaced that should fix the problem.

SOURCE: TV SCREEN GOES BLANK

Most of you that are having problems,it has nothing to do with your screens themselves,but with the capacitors in the power supply,the caps,over heat and the tops pop out and the dry out and are no longer any good,a soldering iron,solder,and flux are really all that is needed to repair this problem,get good caps at radio shack,or equal location,pay attention to polarity on the two contacts on the bottom of the caps,replace all that are poped up

Black vertical line
This seems to be a problem with some older panels. If you are prepared to tackle the problem yourself then try the following.
WARNING there are some very high voltages within the TV which can be LETHAL so the greatest of care should be taken.

With the back of the TV removed, use a hair dryer and apply warm air to all the ribbon cables in turn until you find the one which causes the fault to disappear. Now turn your attention to the faulty ribbon and remake the connections as necessary.

I turn my tv on the picture and sound all work and after about 20min the picture goes to a black screen and I still have my sound. I turned the tv off wait about 5 min turn it back on the picture come on...
If you have electronics experience - check the power supply and make sure you are getting the correct voltage to your inverter boards and main av board - also do you see any movement on the screen take a flashlight and shine on the screen - if you can see a dark image on the screen check inverter boards and power first.

Sound stays on, but no picture- goes black and stays that way.
This unit should still be under warranty and should be taken in for warranty service. Any attempt to access the interior will void the warranty. It is important that a complete description of the problem like you entered here be taken along when you bring the set in for service. This will insure that the servicer be able to reproduce the problem and resolve it.

From your description (and as a servicer), I would be looking for a component that is heat sensitive. These types of problems are fairly easy to locate and resolve.

Please take this in for warranty service and update this when you find out the details.

TV has gone into "protect mode" to do just that to protect against the damaging failure that has been detected, you will need a servicer to diagnose the failure. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Call 1-800-Samsung to set up a warranty service call. They will repair it in your home if they send a Samsung Field Engineer. You probably have a bad Main bd.

Sounds like a temperature problem if it takes a while for the problem to happen there are several things u can try and figure it out yourself. 1. Remove the back cover of the tv and turn the tv on. 2. use a hair dryer and apply heat to various boards of the lcd (inverters, power supply and scaler) while applying heat to see what board reacts and makes the tv go dark. More than likely its a defective LCD panel and its just as easy to send it back and get a replacement TV.
