SOURCE: Maytag MFD2561HEQ Bottom Freezer Refrigerator - Freezer working, refrigerator not

Marc of Nc. check to make sure the fan in the freezer is operating when the compressor is on. The only thing the fresh food section gets its cool air from is the freezer. and if the fan is not operating no cold air will get up there. If the fan is running you need to make sure the air duct is not blocked with frost of the evaporator is not iced up. Check that out and get back with me if there still is a problem. Good Luck

you have a defrost problem, could be bad adaptive defrost board,t-stat heater, when you open freezer door listen for fan if fan is blowing check the t-stat,look at it and see if it has a buldge on it,sometime you can see this and tell it's bad, you'll need a meter to read out the heater and other parts to see whats bad, might be a good idea to call a tech to do this, when you find problem you have to melt everything out again

SOURCE: Refrigerator doesn't cool/freeze - clicking, cyclying noise repeates, but doesn't cool

I've been told by a tech who repaired my MFD2560HEQ this past week that many of this model had a problem with compressor failure. Your symptoms are classic. What you are hearing is the starter relay trying to start a warm/hot compressor by supplying it with an extra jolt of electricity, but because of the faulty compressor (or if you are lucky a faulty relay) that's warm (cool ones start more easily often) is refusing to budge into motion and compress the freon. Maytag, I believe, has a five year warranty on the compressors. They did on mine, but unless you have an extended warranty the labor replacing it is not covered and that will be around 2-3 hours worth. This is the price we are paying for our quest for energy efficiency. Compressors are being built so small and light that they fail much more often than grandma's old, old refrigerator that was built like Fort Knox and ran for 45 years, remember? But we're being energy efficient! Thank you environmental extremists! I wish I could send you the repair bill.

The refrigerator side (not the freezer) is not getting cold and there is some water on the floor

I would begin by testing the defrost timer listed as location 15 here=> MTB2156GES Controls
Defrost timers place defrost on on refrigerator about 3 times daliy and yours may not be working properly and causing ice and snow build up on rear wall of freezer.
Here is what the timer looks like=> 68233-3 Defrost Timer

I would like you to see if you can find a way to test by placing a flathead screwdriver inside the back or even through a tiny round hole found inside the Fresh Food compartments top shelf and behind controls. Sometimes or most they place a plastic plug their that hides the hole. Turn slowly clockwise until compressor stops and within a minute your defrost should begin. If this works then replace timer. If not we need to move to the defrost heater and defrost thermostat found behind the rear panel of freezer. Here is what you will see behind that rear panel if not defrosting=> Non-Defrost Air Circulation Problems
Now you will need to check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat once you manually defrost with a hair drier. Please unplug power to refrigerator before doing anything like this. Here is a=> 61002046 Defrost Heater

Here is the defrost thermostat=> 61005254 Defrost Thermostat

I will be here if you have questions, Thanks Sea Breeze
