SOURCE: how to thread the bobbin on a singer simple sewing machine
Drop-in bobbin: Note: thread must change direction when entering bobbin shuttle notch. Usually bobbin will turn counter-clockwise when threaded properly.
1. hold bobbin so that the tail of thread is facing to left.
2. drop bobbin into bobbin shuttle.
3. pull thread toward you.
4. guide thread into notch and pull to left so that slot engages thread.
5. pull thread diagonally across shuttle toward back of machine.
6. draw bobbin thread up through needle plate with threaded needle.

I had a Golden Touch 'N Sew many years ago and as the machine aged and parts became worn, step 4 of this bobbin winding diagram started to become a problem and I had to sometimes try several times before the "tabs" would release. If they did not release, the machine "thought" it was still winding the bobbin and would not sew.

You can download a manual for $10 at www.sewingmanuals.com and it should help you. A couple of suggestions though, is your needle inserted correctly? Flat side facing the rear of the machine, fresh needle? Threaded correctly on top and bobbin area? Is your thread good not too old and the same type in bobbin and top? Did you leave a long enough tail in the bobbin thread? 3-4 inches which you hold with your left hand. Is the thread in the bobbin unwinding the right way? Are you turning the handwheel towards you, not away from you at least two revolutions or until you see the thread loop? Try these suggestions, and I am sure one will work unless your timing is off and it needs professional service.
