I have been charging my camera for 25 minutes and when I turn it on, it gives the message "connecting to computer" briefly then turns off. Can you tell me how to get to the main menu?

SOURCE: Samsung NV10 not detected when connected to PC / computer

I had the same issue. Try checking in Control panel > Admin Tools > Disc Management. If it shows up in there, then it's recognised by the PC, and there must be a drive assignment conflict. Change the assigned drive letter to something else.

SOURCE: My samsung sh100 would not

1). Immediately pick out the inner memory card in case that any newly taken picture would rewrite your original photos.
2). Insert this camera to your computer via a card Reader and prepare to retrieve all your deleted pictures.
3). Apply a deleted photo recovery freeware to retrieve all your deleted photos back successfully:
http://blog4mark.blogspot.com/2012/12/photo-recovery-after-delete.html
I believe this data recovery freeware can work perfectly on your camera memory card just in the same way as it completely retrieves all the deleted data of my friend off from his phone memory card. Just give it a shot!
4). Save and back up all the restored photos on a different memory card or drive in case of data recovery failure.
Note: Never forget to back up everything important at least on two memory cards or locations in the future.
Good luck!

SOURCE: hard reset sh100

The only reset you can do is resetting the settings you made. There is no such thing as a reset button.
For reset see the English manual page 132.

Most camera's don't have reset buttons. Although the android cameras could have one. But the first thing you can do if an error occurs with any camera, is switch it of. Check no light is burning or flashing. (this means the camera is still accessing the memory and switching off will damage the file system) Then remove the battery. Wait a few seconds and than reinsert the battery. This will force the camera to start from scratch.

Camera, the charger cord broke, got a new one, not sure if it's charging cause it always shows the MSDC on the screen when I turn it on. What has happen to my camera? It is a Vivitar ViviCam x029

Are you charging it by connecting to a computer? The MSDC message says that the camera is connected to a computer. What happens if you disconnect it and then turn it on?

I keep getting the message "connecting to computer" on Samgsung SH100

Disconnect the camera, remove the battery and after a few moments reinsert the battery. Then switch on again.
When you charge the battery in the camera, the camera could think it is connected to a PC, because the USB cable is inserted. It could be you are using a USB cable, that not came with the camera. If the error keeps coming back buy an external (Universal) charger, to charge your battery. Modern universal charges can charge almost every camera battery on the market. In the long run, it is better for the camera and for the battery, when you charge in an external charger.
Keep the contacts clean with a dry cloth.

Battery exhausted message no battery charged

The manual says:
Confirm all connections.
Off is selected for Charge by computer in the setup menu.
When charging by connecting the camera to a computer, battery charging stops when the camera is turned off.
When charging by connecting the camera to a computer, battery charging stops if the computer is suspended (sleeping), and the camera may turn off.
Depending upon computer specifications, settings, and status, it may be impossible to charge the battery inserted into the camera via computer connection.
So be sure you are charging the correct way. Best way to do is to remove the battery and put it on the charger for a couple of hours. If you have the battery out, you can check all connections of battery and in the camera.
In trouble shooting, more than a full page is dedicated only to the battery and the method of charging. The manual is still online, but should also on the CD you got with the camera.

Hi,
This is not a common/generic problem for this camera, we need to be a bit more creative into it resolution.
I am assuming that you have already checked for accidental 'power on' of the camera prior to reporting it. By accidental power on, i mean that as this is one of those semi-pro dslr cameras you need to make sure that the power is turned off before you replace the lens cap as otherwise you can mistakingly leave the camera on while the covered lens will show nothing on the lcd/viewfinder display.
Check the time it takes for you to charge your battery. It should take a minimum of 5.5 hours to charge the battery fully. If the charging light on the charger turns off before then, continue charging for the next couple of hours. Try using the batteries again. Also, please note that temperature is very important both during usage and charging. As per Sony, the optimum charging temperature is 25 degrees C or 77 degrees F. In colder areas, battery power runs out extremely fast.

The symptom of light staying on briefly then going off suggest the battery is dead. If you bought a new battery did you put it in correctly? turn it around and try again.

"Connection failed" -- USB connection

The "Connection failed" error message indicates a communications problem in the USB connection between the camera and the computer. Simply put, the computer cannot find the camera it is being asked to connect with. There is usually no single "most likely" reason for the conflict -- it could be a hardware issue as easily as it could be a software issue. Fortunately, the most common causes of this error message are also the most easily identified: * Make sure that the computer's operating system is USB compatible. Microsoft Windows 95 and NT operating systems are not compatible with USB technology. (In addition, PhotoMAX and PhotoImpression software cannot be installed on Windows NT systems.) If you have an incompatible operating system, you must upgrade to Windows 98, Me or 2000 to use a USB connection. Your computer must also have the appropriate USB connectors. NOTE: This camera cannot make a USB connection with a computer running Windows XP. * Make sure that the camera power is on. Follow the camera instructions to turn the camera on. Some cameras conserve battery power by turning off automatically after a few minutes of inactivity. If necessary, install new batteries or connect the camera to AC power (if it has an AC power adapter). * Make sure that the camera is correctly set to access images. Make sure the camera is turned on and that its mode dial (if it has one) is correctly set for transferring pictures to the computer. Refer to the camera user guide for more information. * Make sure that the camera cable has not been damaged or become disconnected from the computer. Confirm that both of the connectors are firmly attached. Check the cable for breaks, kinks or other defects, and check the connectors for bent or broken pins. If the cable is broken or kinked, obtain a new cable.
