1993 F350 turbo idi wont always start

There is a safety switch on top of the brake pedal lever or clutch lever which is suppose to prevent lurching on start-ups. It is suppose to insure that the Brake pedal is pushed OR the clutch is down before the engine will crank.

The Ignition switch is interrupted by the above cutout switches. But when Ignition is turned on, the Glow plug timer should click and cycle if Power Relay is giving it juice. So if you do not hear that type of clicking, the glow plugs will stay cold.

I would check to see if power is going to the Power Relay above the glow plug timer, and if it is getting power, does the Power Relay send it to the Timer? The starting circuit is more involved in a Diesel because the fuel must be atomized by heating it for initial starts. But you must be getting this process if jumping the solenoid results in the engine starting.

Therefore the big test is whether the small wire to the starter solenoid is dead when a foot is pressing the Brake or clutch pedal when the Ignition key is in the STARTER position.

So either your Ignition switch is bad at the STARTER terminal position or the signal is interrupted by the anti-lurch Interlock switch. It is quite common for problems with this switch being hit and broken or displaced by the Drivers' feet.

There was also no indication of whether you jumped the solenoid on a warm engine which could atomize the fuel by compression or a very cold engine which needed the glow plugs to work.

Please comment on my info and report your success.

I have changed the 2 fuel pumps, filter, temp. switch, map sensor, plugs, wires, fuel pressure switch and the list goes on but when I put it in gear and start letting out on the cluch it looses fuel...

This is something I have not heard of before. I suspect it can have something to do with the Interlock switch on the Clutch pedal. Does the engine also cut out putting it into Neutral?
Check under your dash for switches on the pedal levers. Many times people get no-starts when a switch is dislocated by a shoe. Yours could be starting and then losing the Ground when the clutch pedal moves.

The Relays in the Powerbox for your fuelpump and Ignition may also be a good place to check too. Some of the Relay terminals are Ground terminals and once the truck is running the Interlock switch is not suppose to matter. The PCM is suppose to control the Relays and if a Ground is corroded the truck is searching for a Ground somewhere.

When I read your request I was wondering if the fuelpump is shutting off early causing your truck to cut out. The defect is loss of a Ground or power to the fuelpump.

Motor burned up, replaced motor now it will not start. could it be the capacitor?

I just had an issue where I thought the motor burned up. It turned out that the red wire from the motor start capacitor to the Motor switch was poorly attached. It became detached midwash and when the motor was supposed to start next I must have got an arc of some kind and thought the motor had burned out due to the smell.
Check the red wire from the motor start capacitor and make sure it has not detached from the plastic wiring harness/pin plug that plugs in to the motor switch. Detach the paper face plate of the motor switch and make sure the connectors are not fried.
Good luck!

take the spark plug out and pull the engine over with the spark plug in the wire and ground the plug to the trimmer and see if it sparks. if not flip the switch the other way and see if it sparks then you shall know.

Husqvarna 435 xtorq chainsaw will not start. you flip the start stop switch prime the gas and pull until its supposed to turn over and does nothing. switch it off of choke and does nothing. thought maybe...

Remove the spark plug and check for blue, snappy spark. If nothing, try a new plug--set gap at 0.020". If still nothing and machine is still under warranty, take it back to your dealer for free repair. The problem could be the ignition switch or the ignition module. Hope this helps!

Engine does not stop when side stand down also starts in gear

There's a switch hooked up to the side stand that is supposed to cut off the ignition if the side stand is lowered while the transmission is in gear. Check that the switch is correctly adjusted and plugged into the wire harness. If that appears okay, then unplug the switch and check it with an ohm meter, it should be 'open' with the stand down and 'closed' when the side stand is up.
Your bike is supposed to start while in gear - so long as the clutch lever is pulled in. If the starter operates in gear and without the clutch lever pulled in, then - same as with the side stand switch - check the clutch lever switch for being plugged in and for open and closed electrical operation. There is no adjustment for this switch, however.

Repaired Husqvarna 41 chainsaw won't start.

Hi

The off switch of the chainsaw has to establish the continuity to kill the running engine.First check the switch with a measure apparat. Then check the continuity of the two wiring harness, sepparately. One wire is atached to the ignition module with a screw and goes to the off position of the switch. The other one towards the on position of the switch.Check the spring!
