SOURCE: The chain on my chain saw is slack.

The adjusting screw is usually found on the right side of the saw close to the bar, near the bottom. You will need to loosen the two nuts on the side that hold the bar tight. Loosen them until the bar lifts up and down (about 1/2") with your finger.

There should be a combination spark plug wrench and screwdriver that came with your saw. If not, use a slot screwdriverto tighten the chain while you hold the bar up with two fingers.

When adjusted properly, there should be no hanging slack in the chain when it is warm. It should rest just against the bar so that you can grasp it with gloves on and pull it toward you.

When it is tightened thusly, tighten the two side nuts while holding the bar up with two fingers. If you don't tighten the two nuts enough, it will loosen and the chain will have slack again shortly.

Remember that the hotter the chain gets, the looser it will be. Make sure your chains is getting plenty of bar oil. Never use regular motor oil.

Ok, what you need to do is go on Google type in that model number UT etc etc and parts right after it. You will see a bunch of sites that have parts drawings, click on one of them, find your part numbers THEN do the same thing again, bqck to google, type in part number then the description, again you will see sites that will either offer the OM part or an aftermarket.

Every chain saw uses as fuel a mixture of oil and gasoline. What is the correct mixture for a textron gasoline powered saw?

25:1 to 32:1

Start at 25:1. If it smokes too much or fouls a plug, go to 32:1 using a good grade 2-cycle oil.

Chainsaw gas mixture ratio

An XL from that time frame recommends 32:1 here:

If my saw it would be adjusted for and operate on 50:1.
1 gallon of premium fuel to 2.6 ounces of quality 2-cycle oil.
4 liters of premium fuel to 80 milliliters of quality 2-cycle oil.

Can i get parts for homelite textron chainsaw 10045b

I saw no Textron listed. An inspection of your saw will probably reveal a "UT-", that seems to be the key.
Homelite/Ryobi.com (authorized parts supplier)
https://www.gardnerinc.com/recons/disclaimer-lg.php - Agree; Choose “Product Line”; “Select OEM” & “Select Catalog” both to “Homelite Consumer Products”. A drop down list appears; self explanatory from here.
The numbers Homelite & Ryobi use do not match the numbers everyone posts. A careful inspection of your saw should find something that matches. Good luck

Is there bar oil in the tank? Oil pump and/or pickup tube in oil tank are usual suspects.

HOMELITE Textron Chain Saw, wont stay running properly.

The preset is to turn them all the way in (Don't tighten them hard or you will damage the needle) and then back each out 1 1/2 turns. This will get you started. You can then run it at full throttle and turn the high speed jet in untill you hear a change in the RPM. Then turn it out untill you hear the same. Find the happy medium.
