THE FUSE IS FOR THE BLADE ENGAGEMENT ACTUATOR MOTOR SOLENOID, EITHER THE MOTOR IS SHORTED OR THE WIRING TO IT IS SHORTED, GET IT UP IN THE AIR AND CHECK ALL THE WIRING UNDER THE TRACTOR FOR WEAR (BARE WIRES) AND WIRES TOUCHING/SHORTED TO METAL.

Even with the mower not running when i pull the switch to engage deck it blows 20 amp fuse

Kelly, ray g. nailed it, First be sure it is only to be a 20 amp fuse, The wires to the clutch that drive the deck will be broke or bare shorting out on each other or on metal, wire are quite commonly broke by the clutch plug or close by. what you can do is carefully follow the wire from switch through the system and look for damage or bare spots, pay special attention when wire runs through frame/body holes and any where it could rub on metal or moving parts. Check the attached links, instruction and guides,4th link see Randy T. reply in forum, has good test method for your problem. Good Luck.

I have a sabre garden tractor that keeps blowing the fuse for the ignition i found no bare wiring anywhere.

The only reason a fuse blows is because it got overloaded(too much amps). Most lawn/garden tractors use separate soleniod for the starter and you said it blows a fuse as soon as you turn on the key. At that point the starter wouldn't(or shouldn't) have any current to it at all. A stuck on soleniod would keep the starter engaged till you unhooked one of the battery cables. Find what that fuse protects in electrical system and start looking for bare wires, maybe a wire has rubbed through where it's laying against metal

The mower starts but the blade switch won't conect yth1542xp

Husqvarna uses an electronic clutch to engage the mower deck. When the clutch works itself out of adjustment it will quit working. Sometimes it will blow the 20 fuse and the tractor will continue to run, but the blade won't engage. When you then shut off the tractor it won't crank again until you replace the fuse. When you attempt to engage the blades again, the fuse will blow again.

Follow this link for a detailed description of the adjustment process:

Starts and runs good but after an hour of cutting when you turn off.. then you want to cut again it will start just fine but when you engage the blades the fuse blows it has a 20 amp fuse is this the right...

I normally see 30 amp fuses to the deck...but it depends on which mower you have. If you place a larger fuse and it does take a 20 amp..you may burn something up. I would check the blades, spindle towers and clean all the stuff on top and inside the deck to look for something catching on the blades. www.nnyparts.com

I have a Husqvarna Yth 180, the lawn mower shut off when I engage the blades to cut grass. I blows the 20 amp fuse near the wire harness

try unplugging the pto then start the mower next engage the blades and see if the fuse blows if it does the problem lies in the mowers wiring if not the problem lies in the pto. hope this helps

sounds as though you are on the right track
but be sure to check the wiring directly from the electric clutch on the front of the motor back to the switch
a wire could be pinched in the frame and shorting out intermittingly
look around and find those wires and move them around and look for chaffing and tightness
and what you could also do is to unhook the clutch at the connection to it at the front of the motor and engage switch and ride around and see if fuse blows and if not you may have an electric clutch issue

FUSE BLOWS WHEN BLADES ARE ENGAGED CRAFTSMAN MODEL # 917.27686

Most probably you have a wire shorting to the frame of your mower.

Trace (follow) the wires from the switch, checking for any frayed, burned, or bare wires.

Repair as needed.
