Not familiar with that model but if it is a 12 volt hook the positive jumper to the positive post on the battery and the neg on the jumper to either the neg post on the battery or any good clean metal part on the motor or body of the tractor...that should get YA going..good luck.

SOURCE: ariens ezr 1742 will not move
There is one common problen that causes this. Infront of the rear wheels there are two housings for the indepentent hydrostatic transmissions. There is one gold colored shaft with a ninety degree angle on it sticking out from EACH of the housings on the top front. Again these are on both sides and they each need to be pushed downward so that the rods can then be pushed backward into the transmissions to inguage them so both of the wheels are powered. Give this a try.

SOURCE: I have a single cylinder,
The carburetor has debris in it or is dirty. You will need to clean it thoroughly, every passage, every hole and inspect all parts. There is a little trick that I have tried on my mower that worked years ago, I put some carb cleaning fuel additive in the tank and then ran it through the whole tank. It made a big improvement for me, but may not correct the issue. It is just a trick, maybe you will get lucky, if not work, the only solution will be to tear into the carburetor.
I hope this helps get you going soon.
