John deere tractor starting, bogs down then dies

I forgot to mention this tractor does'nt have a carburator. We changed the fuel injectors about 5 years ago would this possibly be the problem again? I took the line off the fuel injector but not a lot of fuel going through it. It's a 1020. Thanks for any help.

Send your injectors in to be bench tested. They should pop around 2300 psi.I could be wrong about pressure scince I havent bench tested this model injector in some time.Takes about 5 minutes for all of them. Also see if your primer pump has good pressure,

this indicates a problem ignition module
try a replacement unit before you get a new one or have the existing unit checked at a mower shop

Is this an older machine ? If so try finding the points its usualy on the front lower part of the engine behind the cover, if you see that then it needs its condensor replaced, lookes like a round battery.

If this is newer or you can also try changing the spark plug sometimes they heat up and fail.

A buddy of mine had this problem. He said there is a line running from the carb down to the crankcase. I don't know if a valve quit working in the carb or what...basically after he shut it off, it was draining fuel into the crankcase. Obviously he changed the oil, and started shutting off the fuel valve after he mows with it. No problems since.

I imagine the problem could be solved with a carb rebuild as well.

1974 John Deere 2030 diesel tractor and the engine dies

I will assume you have bled the fuel system per the owners manual to ensure no air lock in your system. This is especially critical after replacing the injector pump.

The next step is to ensure you fuel filters are good and flowing and last but probably the problem is the screen on the petcock (fuel shut off) in the fuel tank. Remove this shutoff valve and clean the screen with a fine wire brush and carburetor cleaner.
