Hello, I have a Sony KDF60WF655 when I turn on the set the green light flashes a minute or two then goes solid green. There is no light from the lamp all fans are turning it never even tries to fire. I have unplugged the unit and that did nothing. I've already tried replacing the lamp and ballast, bipassed the lamp thermostat none of it made a difference.

Thank you very much for the help. I have 120v on the black and white wires at the ballast so does that mean its the micro? Were is that located? Can it be fixed? Your response is greatly appreciated.

Either the PowerSupply is not providing the needed voltage to the ballast or the signal from the Micro is not telling the Ballast to fire. So far, I have seen the PowerSupply fail in this mannor.
Hope this helps,

If you got the voltage at the Ballast, it seems to me that it leaves the Micro. I believe the board that is on the Optical Block has the the data line to signal ignite for the Ballast. On last thing I thought of. I had one that had loose plug connections on the Main Chassi.

The Main Chassi slides out pretty easy. You may have to take a metal bracket off on the right side. When you pull the Chassi out you will see a number of plug connectors behind the upright boards. Make sure they are all totally seated properly. The ones that were loose for me were the ones with glue on them.

I hope it is not the Board for the Optical block because you must replace the Optical Block to get it. It is not available separately.

Good luck to you for the easy fix.

I have a sony tv, model number KDF60WF655... i turn the tv on and it turns on for about 1 min then turns off, the green light flashes several times then turns itself on again. the process keeps repeating...

Replace lamp in tv as this symptom shows existing lamp is near to end of its working hours life span and need to be replaced.
Lamp replacement procedure is easy and would be written in user manual.
Buy Sony original lamp for good picture in tv.
Thanks.
tip

Pix shuts off, green light starts flashing, pix comes back and shuts off again

If you have an issue where your picture turns off and the green power light starts flashing, you are most likely looking at a weak or old lamp. Do not be confused with a pix loss and a RED light flashing, as this can be caused by many things. The normal sequence of events for this fix is this:
1) TV turns on normally, plays for 1 to 3 minutes (may be more or less time)
2) Picture goes out and green power light begins flashing. It may flash for up to 2 minutes
3) green light turns on solid (stops flashing) and picture returns.
4) Picture goes out again and process repeats.

You may have been told that "if the lamp light isn't on, it isn't a bad lamp".
FALSE!
A weak lamp will cause the process above to occur. Other signs of a weak lamp:
The reflector in the lamp is very cloudy
You may see a "growth" or "bubble" on the vertical glass tube which is the lamp
You haven't replaced the lamp in quite some time or it is the original lamp from when you purchased the TV.

In cases like these, try a new lamp. Stick with an original Sony lamp, as there are many stories (both personally witnessed by me and also documented on the web) about problems with after market replacement lamps. And remember, lamps DO NOT have a shelf life; you can store them in a good environment (not too hot or cold!) for an indefinite period with no ill effects.

Intermittent lamp turn off

I was told by the repair service to unplug the power cord for about 5min. This resets the internal computer. I think this helps but does not cure the cause. Good luck.

SONY GRAND WEGA

I have a KDF60XS955. When I power it on, the fan comes on, the standby light flashes green several times, the lamp comes on and the standby light goes to solid green. This lasts for less than 5 seconds then the lamp goes out, followed by ~30 green standby flashes, the lamp coming on with the solid green standby light for about 5 seconds then shuts off the lamp again. I can hear/feel the fan running the enitre time. This cycle continues endlessly. Please help!
