Question about Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer
I was doing a load one nite, then the power went on and off a few times. Ever since then I am getting the FH error code. I checked water hoses and screens. I cleaned out drain trap. I have also left machine unplugged overnite. Code is still there. There seems to be sufficient water still running into machine. Dont see a difference there. And after watching a load, at the rinse cycle, it rinses, drum rotates, drains a bit and starts all over again until I cancel load and just drain and spin myself. Any ideas? i have searched all over this site and have tried everything I have found. Nothing has worked yet!!!!
Take the lid off attached to the inlet valve to the dispenserr you will see a little white mechanisim in line with them. this is called your flowmeter take it off and blow through it is should sound like a cazoo. put it back on and try to do a wash cycle. if this doesn't help you need a new flowmeter. also if you take the kick panel off you will find the tech sheet to help you diagnose this problem.

Error Code FH Diagnostics Following Power Outage:
Possible Failed Inlet Valve; open top of washer (unplug from wall socket, remove three screws top/back of washer lid, slide top back one inch then lift up, unplug wire plugs from each of the hot and cold inlet solenoid valves, check continuity (ohm meter) of both hot and cold solenoids. If 500-1500 ohms resistance on both Inlet Valves, then Inlet Valves are OK electrically. If less than 500 ohms on either hot or cold, the Inlet Valve has failed electrically. NOTE: If the cold water solenoid checks out OK and the hot water solenoid fails, run loads on cold/cold and the FH error should not appear. This will give you time to order a new Water Inlet Valve (around $50 and a 10 minute job to replace... see videos on youtube and elsewhere).

Error code FH appears when No water is detected entering machine or Pressure switch trip is not detected. You may need to check the continuity at the inlet valves. If the valves are fine then check whether inlet water hoses as they might be plugged. Also check for inlet water screen at the valve. However, if the water is entering into the washer then the Drain pump might not be working. Also inspect the Pressure Switch hose whether it is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and Pressure switch. Also check hoses for leak and inspect the flow meter. Hope this helps...

Thank you for contacting fixya.com.
error code means low water inflow. In this error washer is not filling when the
fill valve opens.
To clear the error please follow the bellow instructions:-
Press the "Stop" button twice with your finger. This cancels the cycle and stops the washer. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.Turn the water shut off valves clockwise to stop the water flow to the washer through the supply hoses. Pull the washer away from the wall enough that you can access the hose connections at the back of the washer.
a bucket under the area of the hose connections. Unscrew the hose connections
from the back of the washer. If necessary, use a pair of slip joint pliers to
help start the connections turning until you can turn them by hand. Set the
ends of the hoses inside the bucket.Inspect the screens on the inlet ports on
the back of the washer where the hoses connect. Sediment and other debris can
block these screens, causing fill problems. Clean the screen with an old
the hoses back onto the washer. Look for kinks in the hoses. Kinks cut off
water supply to the washer which causes the FH error code. Once you connect the
hoses, turn the water supply valves counter-clockwise to supply water to the
washer. Move the bucket away from the washer and push the washer back into its
working position.Plug the power cord back into the outlet and start the wash
cycle again. If the FH error code comes up again, call a service repairman. If
the hoses have no kinks and the inlet screens are clean, there is a problem
with either the pressure switch or the flow meter.

Look for the "Pause/Cancel" button on the washer control panel. The button will be below the digital time clock and to the lower right of the wash cycle selector.
Press the "Pause/Cancel" button twice to cancel the wash cycle. Unplug the Kenmore Elite washer from the wall outlet.
Check for kinks in the water supply hose while the washer does not have power. Turn off the water supply spigots and remove the hoses from the back of the washer. Check the port screens at the hose connections for sediment buildup and clean as necessary.
Connect the water supply hoses back to the washer and turn on the water spigots. Plug the washer cord back into the wall outlet.
Select the wash cycle and press the "Start" button.
If the error code come back you will probably have to change the water inlet valves. No hard to do and you can fdo this yourself
