I just installed a new booster pump for Polaris 280. It runs hot and it doesn;t seem to have enough pressure to make the sweep run. Any suggestions

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

When you installed it were you careful to set the motor to the correct incoming line voltage? If not and you are powering it with 115V you probably didn't reset the motor for 115 from 230...factory set motors come out for 230 V. A motor set for 230 but running on 115 will be very hot and over time will begin to cycle its overload. The performance will be poor until corrected. Look for a dial in the terminal area or wires to be reconfigured. Directions for how to set the motor voltage should be found on the motor nameplate.

Just bought a new polaris booster pump (PB4-60) and installed it...the polaris ran for a few seconds and shut off.

Have you checked for voltage at the pump motor? Did you wire it correctly? Is the motor 110V or 220V. Did you match the motor to your existing voltage?

Is there a RESET button on this pump PB-4 . Nothing happens when we turn power on.

NO, there is not a reset on these types of motors. Check for proper voltage at the motor connections. Make sure you have it properly wired for the rate voltage of the motor.

Installed a new 3/4 hp Polaris pool sweep pump.

Check your voltage and be sure it matches the way the motor is wired. You will find a scematic for this on top or on the side of the new motor, with a diagram on how to rewire it if nessary. If this is not the problem then it is in the motor and should be returned for a new one.

My polaris booster pump does not run when turned on. is there a reset button other than the circut panel?

there is not a reset on the pump itself. It does have a high limit that shuts the motor off if it overheats but will reset on it's own when it cools down. Check to see if it might be tied in with a GFCI or a sub-breaker somewhere.

Polaris booster pump overheats and trips the breaker

The motor may be repairable. Check with local electric motor repair shops in your area. The motor may need to be replaced though and if so, we sell it at www.arrowmotor.net

Polaris quads have a reverse override that does not allow full power in reverse unless you push the override button on the left hand handlebar. Prevents you from going full speed in reverse and wiping out. You will also notice that your 4x4 will not work unless you push the button,
