Hi, I once had this problem. My freezer and refrigerator were both warm, but I could still hear it running. When the repair guy came out he immediately checked the back interior of the freezer (had to remove a panel) and it was entirely frozen solid with ice. He said the defroster had stopped working, which caused the coils to all freeze. It took him about an hour to get all of the ice off. He replaced the defroster. Total cost was around $250.00.We have a GE side by side Profile, about 8 years old. Works fine now.

My U-line runs too long ... it never shuts off......

What model do you have? If you have a combo then the thermastat is in the freezer compartment. Normally when I hear about the bottom freezing is that the freezer door isnt closing(sealing) all the way. If your cold air drops into the refrigerator then the thermostat doesnt recognize this. U-line refrigerators does run the compressor, This makes the compressor run more effiecient. If your defrost is giving problems and you say that you replace the switch you must mean the timer. Maybe it wasnt the timer. It could be the hotgas coil thats giving the problem. Alotof techs dont understand how U-line works. I hear about this all the time. So check the freezer door to make sure its closed and sealing. Then you need to advance it to defrost and you should hear a snap of the coil opening up the valve. Then the hotgas should go thru and you hear the crackle of frost.

Frozen foods collecting ice crystals in my freezer

Your freezer is getting too warm during the defrost cycle, causing condensation in your veggies and eventually freezer burn. Likely your door seals are leaking as well after 17 years which introduces even more humidity into your freezer, but I'm assuming your talking about sealed bags of veggies? You need to decrease the temp in your freezer. Get a thermometer and make sure you average around zero degrees. The cause? When is the last time you cleaned the coils at the back of the fridge. Or if they are sealed, perhaps you need to have it serviced. You can try moving your freezer setting to a colder setting it may take care of the problem.

Food and water freezes but ice cream is soft

Check the door gasket seal.
Open the door for a few seconds and then close.
Immediately open the door again, and, if sealing properly, it should take more pulling force to open the door.

Puddles of water in Fridge

you may want to check your door seal, air leaking thru the door seal causes condesation, also make sure that the drain tube is clear under the defrost element in your freezer.

We have a Whirlpool gb22dk refrigerator freezer. The bottom freezer keeps meat frozen but will not keep sea food ice cream bread ect frozen. This fridge came with our house which we purchased 2 years ago...

1st.Check the freezer door gasket for any place it maybe torn or not making a 100% seal when you close the door. That would make temperature drop. 2nd.take off bottom kick plate so you can look under the refrigerator.Using a flashlight make sure there is not alot of lint / dust stuck on the coils .If there is remove it carefully and you will see temperature lower. PLEAS RATE THIS!

Frost in the freezer

IS IT ICE OR FROST? IF IT IS ICE, THE DOOR MAY HAVE BEEN LEFT CRACKED OPEN.
IF IT IS FROST, IS THIS A FROST FREE FREEZER?
IF YES, IS THE FROST ON THE BACK WALL?
IF YES, THERE IS A DEFROST FAILURE AND YOU WILL NEED TO TROUBLESHOOT THE DEFROST CIRCUIT.
IF THE FROST IS ON THE FOOD OR AROUND THE DOOR OPENING, A SEAL LEAK HAS ALLOWED WARM MOIST AIR INTO THE FREEZER AND CREATED THE FROST. CHECK THE DOOR SEAL FOR A GAP WHEN CLOSED.

GIBSON DEEP FREEZE IS RUNNING BUT EVERYTHING IS THAWING OUT

Might try unplugging for a few hours and then plug it back in. There is a possibility that it slugged the compressor and there is a restriction in the line. Sometimes when the compressor fails to stop running in cold air the liquid gets back to the compressor. It can cause a bit of gunk to be picked up out of the oil and carried to the expansion line and plug up the line. Maybe turning it off will let the plug fall free and not replug the line. Worth a try anyway.....
