The receiver is dead. Can we get a replacement and use the speakers, or do we have to buy a whole new system?

You can use the speakers. Make sure you buy a receiver with the same wattage as your speakers. If you don't get the same wattage you run the risk of blowing your speakers.

Microwave smell like burning rubber

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you are receiving a burning rubber smell from your Frigidaire microwave. I also see that your appliance will run for a couple of seconds, and then you hear a weird noise, followed by a burning rubber smell. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician, especially when dealing with your microwave. They will be able to diagnose your appliance and determine what is causing that sound as well as the burning rubber smell. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Halo this receiver gets very hot when i use 4

Check the impedance on the rear of the speakers and then check the back of the receiver...the receiver will say on the back what the minimum impedance for each speaker should be...if the receiver says min of 8 ohms per speaker and you are running 4 ohm speakers, then the impedance is mismatched and this will eventually burn up the amplifier in the receiver

My receiver keeps shut'n off right *** soon as i turn it on it says"amp err" i open it n no blown fuzes or burn smells or burns or nothin out of the ordinary, except for alot of dust...... it...

I would unplug the unit and then un-hook all speaker wires from the receiver. Next power the unit back on with no speakers attached, if you still get "amp err" then you likely have a power supply or regulator problem. If the unit seems to power on ok, then add one speaker at a time and test. This receiver has a power up routine and it looks at speaker load before sending signal. If there is a short in the cable or the speakers are presenting a load below 4 ohms then the receiver will never power up correctly.
Good Luck. Hope you get your beats back.

Speaker output shorted no sound and hot electrical smell. Sub still has output.

You should see the damage to the part (perhaps even smell it too) which will need to be replaced. I suspect it will be on the big heatsink and perhaps connected to the channel which was shorted out. Check the internal fuses too.

Sony STR-DE597P - Centre Sound Problem

You have a "ground loop" problem.
It's related to the AC wiring in your place.
I dont know if you have a Walmart or Home Depot type store near you but,if you do, go to one and ask for a AC circuit tester. Should be a 3 prong unit with LEDs. Plug one into where you have the stereo and see what it reads.
You might have lost a ground connection in the AC outlet

Speakers humming. No reception.

The audio amplifier in the unit has failed, and that's what you smell. Turn it off and quit using it immediately - it presents a fire hazard. It might be possible to replace the bad parts. Depending on what it cost, you might want to take it somewhere for a repair estimate, but be prepared to learn it might not be fixable. Often the burned parts damage the circuit board as well.

Usually this happens in small stereo systems because of running them at high volumes for a long time. If you want to listen to loud music, you would be better off putting the money into a higher-power system.

Bought some replacement speakers and the reciever seems to get ver hot!

Hello! Yes, you need to worry when a Sony gets hot!! You probably have replaced factory 8 ohm speakers with 4 ohm speakers. Look on the back of your new speakers and see what they are. Then look at the rear of your receiver by the speaker terminals and there will be a sentence like "8 Ohm minimum per channel". If your Sony says " 8 ohms " you need to use 8 ohm speakers.
Also, are you a using low level signal ( audio out ) to drive your sub or are you using high level ( speaker line )??? I'd use low level. Good luck!!

No sound to right speaker

It's probably just a cable problem. Reconnect the RCA cable from the receiver to the right speaker and even try to replace the cable. Good luck.
