Take the bobbin case out. Then when you go to put it in, realize there are 2 ways to get it. You have found one way. The other way is first look in the the slot with a flashlight before you insert it. There is a flat piece of metal the bracket needs to be slid under as it is inserted. This acts like a spring making it tight

Usually when this happens the bobbin is in wrong, replace it make sure the thread is going out the right way, make sure there is no lint or small pieces of thread around or underneath the bobbin area. Make sure you thread it with the foot up. Also make sure you are usng the right bobbin for the machine. They can easy get mxed up.

The silver plate should be on top.

Testimonial: "Thank you very much for your advice, I had initially placed it on top and it seemed to work but I wasn't 100% sure, now I am, thank you once again."
From what I gather on other sites, your thread has to be threaded under tension.... You have to make sure you hear a click when your bringing your thread down to the bottom of the "arm". Also, I thought the bobbin case was rather loosely held in its place, I adjusted this by unscrewing the black plate and moving it over just a smidge. The bobbin is supposed to have some wiggle room, but it kept popping up and making the tiny adjustment seems to have done the trick....for now...

Raise the needle to it's highest position and the case should go right into the shuttle.
Refer to the maintenance section of the manual for your machine.
If you do not have a manual, you can get one at the Brother website.
