Hello, I have a student in our electronics class that has an Emerson EWF2702. Problem is the tv has sound but only a white line will show up on the screen when it's turned on. Can you provide a diagram...

Hello
A single white line across the screen denotes the absence of vertical sweep. Its vertical output section, or its vertical deflection coil section [integrated to deflection coin assembly fixed at the neck of picture tube] may got damaged. Deflection coil faults are very rare. You just look into vertical sweep output and its dirve section. Check for all voltages. Check its main supply voltage. The output voltage must be almost about the half of its supply voltage. Usually most of the modern telivisions uses an IC in this stage. Sometimes that Ic may be faulty. Check it also. Schematic diagram of Emerson is not available with us; and is ver difficult to get. If you wants any further assistance contact me. gopakumarg43@ymail.com.

CRT TV vert section

Hi,

Vertical linearity is more of a DCV bias issue rather than feedback or AC coupling. Hence it would be more apt to suspect resistors rather than capacitors. Of course, it is also possible that the large IC that drives the Vertical output maybe at fault (least likely) but often would have trimpots for adjustment. Most current designs do away with trimpots and rely on self correcting (feedback loop) which is simply a resistor in the 100k range. In certain instances, it could be a thermistor or resistor or diode limiter attached to the yoke itself.

Best would be to use a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings and compare actual on PCB against schematic.

If you could post back the make & model or preferably the chassis number of the TV, might be able to comment back known common vertical issues.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Resistor R410, in schematic diagram FILE NAME: power, for TV Samsung CK-5339ZB was burn, I replace with new one, but it burn again. What can be reason for this

if you are talking about vertical section 1 reduce brightness as you will get h/line due to vertical failure. 2 check v/section for loose contact or yoke connection. 3 check supply to vertical section. 4 check associated parts in v.section 5 at last check for vertical ic. hope this will help. as per schematic diagram go to www.serviceinfo.com good luck

I see only horizontal line on TV Samsung CK-5339ZB

h/line is due to vertical section failure. 1 reduce brightness as you will get h/line due to vertical failure. 2 check v/section for loose contact or yoke connection. 3 check supply to vertical section. 4 check associated parts in v.section 5 at last check for vertical ic. resistor R410 CONNECTED TO high voltage transformator T444 is low value resistor. .5ohm to 10 ohm. it burnt again due to short cht in vertical mainly due to ic. hope this will help. as per schematic diagram go to www.serviceinfo.com

No verical

Hello gurdev, If all you have is a straight horizontal line across the middle of the screen, you have a vertical deflection problem. This may be caused by the opening of the vertical coupling capacitor, an open winding in the yoke transformer, the vertical drive transistor might be malfunctioning, or the vertical output IC chip might be defective. You will have to check all of these, make sure that you have a schematic, a multimeter, and an oscilloscope. Here is why: 1) schematic diagram to know where parts are and the voltages and signals present at test points. 2) multimeter to measure DC voltages on the pins of components 3) oscilloscope to measure signals at test points shown on the schematic. If you do not have a background in electronics please take your set to a repair shop, however if you have a background in electronics your troubleshooting will be around the vertical section if the tv. Thank you, Shuttle83
