Question about Vehicle Parts & Accessories

Check voltage on battery when engine is not running then when it is running. Expect 11 to 12.5 volts when it's not running & more than that (about 15 volts) when it is running. If voltage doe not increase, alternator is probably bad.
If batteries are low on fluid (acid), it may be leaking or alternator is overcharging (bad alternator or regulator).
I have also had the rectifier (diodes) short (but they usually burn open) which allows the alternator pump AC instead of pulsating DC into the battery - this can also ruin the battery. This is also a bad Regulator or alternator.
