Question about Refrigerators
I have a Dometic Royal RM3800 3-way refrigerator. The refrigerator runs great when connected to electric power and when the generator is running but when in LP mode will light and run for a few hours then shut down. When re-started it will light and operate for a few more hours but the indicator light stays red each time it is re-started and is running. I have cleaned the rust out of the burner tube, cleaned the flume and installed a new volt relay (the old one showed signs of over heating).

It is key that all control switches are in the correct position, depending on what power source you are using, gas, electric, etc. If the switches are not in the proper setting, the unit will not operate.
Here's the manual for your fridge that should be printed out for your use and reference (and reading enjoyment). It has all the info needed to operate and troubleshoot it.
Typically, when using any gas appliance with a pilot light, the sensor has to first be hot enough to trigger it to allow the safety gas shutoff to open and allow the gas to flow to the pilot/burner. Follow the instructions and you should be all set.
Hope you find this helpful and best regards!

Yes, you can operate the fridge on propane while driving, instead of running the generator for electric operation. However, you should have a dual tank setup to prevent running out of propane.
Propane tanks with OPD valves aren't holding a true 20 lbs of LP, but rather only hold 17-18 lbs of LP. However, if you're swapping/exchanging your tanks instead of having them refilled, you're only getting 15 lbs of LP in the tanks these days, (check the label at the bottom of the tank to confirm). Hence the reason to have a dual tank setup on your RV to get longer run times.
I thought you might want to have a tech manual for your fridge, so here's a link to the Dometic site, you just need to select yours based on the manufacture date, etc.
Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
