SOURCE: FLAP IN DOOR FOR ICE WILL NOT STAY CLOSE

The ice maker may need to be reset or the ice dispenser lever pulled. You posted on the samsung unit page, so I'm giving you the site to purchase anything from: samsungparts .com. The troubleshooting for pulling the lever is basically to watch the flap to see if it moves when lever is pulled. If it doesn't move, write here for more troubleshooting or call samsung.

SOURCE: Samsung RFG 297 has ice build up under the Cool

• Check if the set temperature on the digital display is too low.
• Try setting the refrigerator to a warmer temperature.
• Is the temperature in the room too low? Set the refrigerator warmer.
• Did you store the food which is juicy in the coldest part of the refrigerator? Try moving those items
to the other shelves in the fridge instead of keeping them in the colder areas or bins.
• Is the air vent blocked? Remove any obstructions so air can circulate freely.
• Allow sufficient space between the stored foods for efficient air circulation.
• Is the freezer drawer closed properly?

There is a ton of information regarding your fridge at the link below, including asking Samsung support questions and getting responses and assistance from their techs:

Frost is building up in bottom freezer. Appliance is running nonstop. I believe that the freezer drawer has been shut completely. Foods in refrigerator section are fine; foods in freezer section are...

Frost can build up for multiple reasons. Most common is the start os an iceblock. Other reasons can include condensation from door being left open or opening too much. It can also happen from backsplash from the inlet tube for the ice maker. If the fridge is running non stop. It sounds like the ice block is forming and the temps are not getting to the program temps. If at factory setting the freezer should be at or around 0 degrees and fridge should be between 42 and 48 degrees. Has the fridge shutdown at all to go into defrost? The defrost timer may have went out and is causing an iceblock. If there is an ice block always change bimetal/ defrost thermostat.

Icing up

I've just had a similar problem. I fixed it by removing the large panel on the back of the inside of the freezer. I found a large build up of ice at the bottom of the freezer which seems to have developed because the drain hole at the bottom of the freezer was blocked. I defrosted the ice, cleared the drain and now the freezer is working fine.

What would cause my freezer to frost up with ice on the top. it is a bottom freezer,, pull out drawer and we have only had it for a little over a year.. it is a Kenmore "elite". model no. 596 7626*

If it is very humid in your area and the freezer is opened and closed often it can cause ice to build up. Try to minimize opening the freezer for 24 hours and see if the automatic defrost will eliminate some (or all) of the buildup.

Why is water forming under the veggie drawers

One of two things caused this problem, either the drain in the freezer is clogged and spilling over to the air duct and through to the refrigerator, down the back wall and then puddling up under the drawers or the Styrofoam between the freezer and refrigerator is saturated with water. If you remove the inner back wall of the freezer and there is ice built up, defrost it with hot water and a turkey baster, push some heavy weed trimmer line down the drain tube and they should clear the clog. If there is no ice build up, then you probably have the latter of the two problems, the only solution is to empty the unit, turn it off, and let it dry out for a few days with the doors opened. If the problem continues, then there is a significant breakdown of the Styrofoam between the two cavities and there isn't a solution, it is time to purchase a new unit.
