How do I oil singer 5932?

My manual says nothing about oiling my Singer 5932. Should this be part of regular maintenance and if so, how and where do I oil the machine?

There should be little holes on the top of the machine, an opening near the bobbin winder and one on the base of the machine about 3 inches from the face place. Also, you can open the bobbin area to put a couple of drops down inside there. The best utensil to clean the machine (especially near bobbin) is a bird feather. The bend easily around corners with out breaking.

SOURCE: Singer Samba 6 sewing machine

It would be wise to have the machine cleaned & serviced. Do you have a manual for it? Did it come with oil at one time? I found a free manual at
http://homeappliance.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/singer/7442.html

You have to register (free)...choose to skip the popups (2)...and you can save the manual to your hard drive.

I checked the manual...you don't need to oil the machine...but page 61-63 shows cleaning...and it's basic. You take the two screws from the throat plate, remove the bobbin case & brush the inside of the machine bed out...I use a small artists plastic bristle brush, or a small childs tooth brush.

Hope this helps.

Testimonial: "Hi, thanks a lot. I don't know if it came with the oil, we assumed that it maybe needs oil (my father knew this from the old machines ;-) ) Again thank you very much for your quick answer!"

Do I need to oil my singer merritt sewing machine. I have a manual but it says nothing about oiling it.

If it is a computerized sewing machine, they are usually self-contained and do not require oiling except as directed or by a technician.

If it an older mechanical machine, generally they do need regular oiling to keep them running in fine shape.

Singer T&S 638, the whole bobbin assembly popped out. My mom-in-law said the needle caught and it just popped out. So it must be pssible to "pop" it back in, right? :)

Just an FYI, be sure to apply a couple drops of fresh good quality sewing machine oil as directed in the instruction manual. Do NOT use 3-in-1, WD-40, cooking oil, or old stinky brown sewing machine oil. Keeping it regularly maintained will keep your sewing machine running smoothly for many years.

Will not zigzag or decorative stitches. New to these newer plastic style machines Always used older steel machines. This was given to me my by my sister who used it very little. Could cam be broken?

Hmm, I'm wondering if it has been cleaned and oiled recently. Older mechanicals require frequent TLC. Consult your owner's manual for cleaning and maintenance instructions:

Is your sewing machine mechanical (ie, not computerized)??? CAUTION--if your machine is computerized, do NOT proceed with the following suggestions.

If it is mechanical, have you cleaned and oiled your machine recently? Most mechanical sewing machine failures are because they have not been adequately and routinely oiled, the old oil has solidified and frozen the mechanics. I recommend Bernina oil or liquid Tri-Flow Synthetic Lube (or similar good quality sewing machine oil) for mechanical machines--do NOT use 3-in-1, cooking oil, WD-40, or the sewing machine oil from your grandmother's sewing basket. (I am not associated with any Bernina dealer.)

If it is in fact frozen, pick up a bottle of liquid Tri-Flow Synthetic Oil at the hardware store. Oil one or two drops in every oil hole (see your manual) and also every place where metal rubs on metal. But DO NOT oil any plastic gears, rubber, or belts. If it is still stiff or frozen, direct a hot handheld hair dryer into the top and bottom mechanism of your machine. See if that loosens it up. You may have to repeat.

Once your machine is working again, place a drop or two of good sewing machine oil as directed above. Be sure to use a small brush to clean the lint and dirt out of your machine, especially around the feed dogs and bobbin area. (Caution: Compressed air will sometimes force the dirt and lint into areas that cannot be cleaned.) And continue to use good quality sewing machine oil to keep it running. Recommendation: every time you change a bobbin, after 8 hours of sewing, or every six months if it is not in regular use.

How do you raise the feed dogs on the Singer Stylist 776?

Here's a manual to download for your machine:
http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/abbd2bd7616f2b26729a1f5800a872ec0dc41c5e.pdf

It appears that your machine does not have a drop feed-dog function. Instead, you would need to buy a special plate that covers the feed dogs. (See page 6)

If the feed dogs are not functioning properly, then consult the maintenance section of the manual for cleaning and oiling. Most likely, the feed dogs need oiling. Be sure to perform regular maintenance on your machine to keep it operating.

How do you oil the singer xl.1000

You should never oil a computerized (electronic) sewing machine. You do need to clean the lint from it at intervals. Singer has the instruction manual available on their support site: http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals . The direct link to the manual is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/8332a66e46ddc22f7bc62f0139bf8fbd03c55b23.pdf . See page 113 (114 of the PDF) for the cleaning information.

I hope this helps.

(I have used mechanical sewing machines which need regular oiling and greasing. The computerized systems are pre-lubricated at the factory and that lubrication should last the machine's lifetime.)

Do I need to oil my singer pioneer II machine

All sewing machines need regular maintenance and this includes using sewing machine oil (supplied with all Singer machines when new) where indicated by the user manual.

I can't supply you with a link though as it's not clear which model you have. Simplicity and Singer are different brands and you seem to have mistakenly mixed them up.
