New frigidaire dishwasher won't fill with water

We just installed a brand new Frigidaire dishwasher and it won't fill with water. Any suggestions? Someone suggested the pump might not be primed?

Underneath the front of the unit just behind the door, you will find a small black tab type block with two pink wires. That is a disconnect to the water intake. If the tab is up, place the tab back in the clear plastic holder. This will turn the power back on to the inlet valve.

Good Morning Julie,

I understand you are having trouble with your newly installed Frigidaire dishwasher, model# FFBD2406NS, filling with water. There are a couple of things I suggest checking.

1)Make sure that the water is turned on from the hot water line.

2)Make sure that the line coming from the hot water is not kinked in any way.

3)Make sure the overfill protector is not stuck in the upward position. This can cause your appliance to not fill with water. The overfill protector is located in the front left corner of your appliance's tub. Make sure to clean underneath of the overfill protector occasionally, with either a vinegar or bleach cleaner, to dissolve any build-up.

If you are still having trouble with the tub filling with water, after trying these suggestions, I recommend contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose your dishwasher and determine what is keeping the water from entering the tub. Hope this is helpful.

    -Best Regards-

Just installed a new dishwasher. It will not fill with water. Power on, water on, overfill valve moves free. Water does not go in unit @ all. I can hear pump run.

Hello Tony, I appreciate your inquiry!
I see that your Frigidaire dishwasher is not filling with water and it has just recently been installed. Is your door shut tightly? Also, are there error codes or lights being displayed on the control panel? I would suggest reading back through your installation guide to make sure all the steps were correct. If you continue to have issues with your dishwasher I would recommend reaching out to your manufacturer for proper warranty procedures. -Matt

Won't Fill and will attempt to run wash cycle when turned off and door is closed

Hello ddux97 - I understand your dishwasher has power but will not fill with water. Here are a few simple troubleshooting tips that may help you resolve this issue:

• Make sure water supply is turned on. (First check for shut off valve under the kitchen sink).

• Check the house circuit breaker or fuse box, reset circuit breaker or replace fuse.

• Check inlet hose and make sure it's not twisted.

• Does float overfill protector (mushroom shaped object in tub) move freely? This is located in the bottom left front corner of the dishwasher.

• If this is a new install, then make sure the unit is not pressed up against the cabinet and the fill tube is not squeezed closed.

• Make sure the electrical wires going to the water inlet valve have not come off. It is best to turn off power to the dishwasher before reconnect wires, it doesn't matter which terminal is off both need to be connected.

• Make sure the drain hose is installed correctly. If the drain hose is routed under the floor as the dishwasher fills water can be drawn from the tub and appear to have never filled.

• Some models of Frigidaire dishwashers use a water pressure switch that will shut off the water valve if the tub over fills. These models do not have floats.

I hope these troubleshooting tips help you in some small way.

The dishwasher dispenser tab did not dissolve.

That could have definitely lowered the water pressure enough to slow down the filling of the dishwasher... maybe it was just a fluke. If it keeps happening, you might have to dig deeper to find the gunk...

A Google search for the part number turned up this... the diagram on page 8 shows the parts you will need to inspect... parts 66, 64, and down in the bottom of 14 is where the gunk will collect.

Brand New overflows PLD4555RFC3

If this is new construction or a new disposal, check the hose that drains from the dishwasher to the disposal - the installer may have forgotten to remove the plug when they connected the hose.

No power to dishwasher

depends on the sequence. many, but not all, dishwashers start with drain to get rid of the slops. if yours starts with fill, then no water supply will prevent progress.(you should be able to hear a low hum which is the valve energised) check also that the door is closing properly and latching. better to use cold water fill not hot
