SOURCE: The charging system on the mower will not charge the battery up

The first thing to check on this machine is your voltage regulator try bypassing the voltage regulator to see if the alternator starts charging, it would be better to check your charging system with a voltmeter so that you know what the exact input and output in the electrical system.

Charging circuit is bad. Probably the voltage regulator however there are other components that can fail. Thus may also be causing the pto to go out

I would start by having battery tested. If u remove it and take it to auto parts store they will test it for free. It could be that the battery will not hold a charge or your tractors alt. is not putting out a charge

I have a craftman riding mower model 917-273381, It will run & cutt grass good for about 4 to 5 min & then stop. I`ve replaced carb kit & check the kill switch. It still doing the same thing.

How long does it have to sit before it starts again? Does it need to be jumped? If battery is old or not recharging you can loose power. I had a regulator go bad and mine would keep dying. I would charge the battery and mow for awhile then would die again. Have you checked battery and regulator?

If you have access to an electric voltmeter, with it running check voltage at the battery. The engine should charge the battery and maintain system voltage so that the electic PTO will function. The electic PTO will not pull in if system voltage is too low.

Is this a battery powered mower?
If so, it sounds like the battery is dying. Batteries do have to be replaced, but 3 years seems like a short life. Ask your dealer before buying another.

I don't kown anything about charging batteries! How do I carge a battery in a 2008 Husqvarna riding lawn more?

mille get yourself a cooler and put 8 cold beers in it. Put that cooler into the gap between the seat and the "dash" of the mower. Make sure your gas and oil are good. Have someone jump start your mower from a car and then you mow and drink and mow and drink until the beer is all gone. If the mower does not start from the battery the next day go out and buy yourself a new battery. If the battery and charging system are good then you do not have to charge it if it is being used regularly.

Pto stops working while mowing

is this by any chance a husqvarna or cub cadet/yardman? ran across this problem in all three. they use a cheaply made clutch that's prone to bearing failures. the clutch [not cheap, just cheaply made] needs to be replaced, the pto switch needs replaced AND the little relay under the dash - if you replace the clutch and switch and not the relay, it'll keep taking out the switch and that can get expensive in a hurry

Mower will not start will make clicking noise. did start at for one minute

Your battery is dead. Replace it.
In the winter keep a smart trickle charger on the battery to prevent it from discharging. Lead/acid batteries lose 1% of their charge per day and are basically junk in 3 months. They have to be kept charged.
