Electrolux dryer getting 'stuck' at times

My AEG Electrolux T55480 dryer has a strange issue: it can turn, it can heat, it can even dry a whole round of clothes well, but sometimes, between a spinning run and the other it makes a noise as if the motor was trying to get through something stuck, and it stops running. One time the light started flashing yellow (it's normally red). I read online there's a way to get a flash coded error message when in that state, but I did not, and it never happened again in the following week. So, as this happened, I believe it's a real problem (the machine itself 'realised') but I don't understand how to fix it. Being an engineer, I tried to open the back and see if I could see anything clearly wrong. Not being an idiot though I stopped unscrewing random things after my gut feelings stopped telling me I knew what was happening. What could be wrong? Thanks in advance. My AEG Electrolux T55480 dryer has a strange issue: it can turn, it can heat, it can even dry a whole round of clothes well, but sometimes, between a spinning run and the other it makes a noise as if the motor was trying to get through something stuck, and it stops running. It looks like that is not correct Conductivity sensor (two brushes; wiring and electronic). I'd like to know if you replaced the both carbon brush (6), which makes contact with the drum shaft is situated in the protective housing (7) of the drum shaft and carbon brush 3b.

programme is being performed):
- Press button start/pause and first nearest button simultaneously for at least 5 seconds: the display shows the last alarm. The alarm sequence continues to flash as long as the two buttons are held down.
The appliance continues the cycle while the alarm codes are being displayed. If the appliance is in programme selection mode, the options previously selected are stored in memory.
However, your tumble dryer is smart and if something is wrong it should be displayed by the alarm codes.

Displaying the alarm code

The alarm code is displayed by a repeated sequence of flashing of the ANTI-CREASE/END OF CYCLE LED (0.4 seconds on, 0.4 seconds off, with a pause of 2.5 seconds between sequences). The buzzer emits a series of ,bips" in synchronization with the flashing of the LED.

  • ANTI-CREASE/END OF CYCLE LED: indicates the first number of the a alarm code
  • START/PAUSE LED: indicates the second number of the alarm code
Now you must count how many times the LED lit up and we will know the fault code.

Doesn't dry

Drying consists of removing moisture through heat and airflow. Check to make sure that your venting tube is not kinked somewhere and therefore not allowing the air to flow freely from the dryer.

Drum goes round, only cold air circulating and no heat to dry washing, machine is constantly bleeping and signalling end of drying cycle

If you pull the panels off you should find the tech sheet to help diagnose your machine. But in you case sounds like it need to be taken apart and cleaned and check the limit switches.

I have AEG Lavatherm T-300-W dryer and it is not drying anymore. I checked front door filter and it is ok. Is it thermostat or blower problem? Thanks, Tom

If it spins, it's your element...but if its your element, it could just be your thermal fuses...which can be repaired rather than replace the whole element which is very expensive. operations@handyman.co.za or www.handyman.co.za

Do not waste any more time with the repairs, they will not resolve the design flaw issue. We have also had the vent replaced 4 times and have burned thousands in clothing /bedding. We are pursuing a class action lawsuit against Electrolux. If you are interested in more information please email me at: alicat_95650@yahoo.com

Dryer heats but doesn't dry

Sounds like it is only heating on "low". The problem is most likely a thermal limit switch/thermostat which is bad.

I have the same AEG T57800 dryer.  Problem, no heat. Couldn't find a service manual anywhere on the net. Checked for fuses and saw none. Thermostats on heater appeared fine, showing current flow. Replaced heating element 112 54 84 41/8, via local dealer - Respond Services from Electrolux UK in Durham DL5 6ED (£68), still no heat.  Called service tech who replaced the PCB - 973916012018008 (£135 + £85 callout charge). Very, Very annoyed at this as the dryer is only 3.5 yrs old.
