Question about Miele Vacuums
This Miele Salsa Model s7280has a button on, the handle, to select brush on (carpet) or off (floor). When using on carpet, with the brush on, the brush will stop working. At this time I must raise the handle up and back down to get the brush to restart. It repeats this constantly while trying to vacuum. I have tried turning the brush switch off and back on but this action does not work. I have tried moving the handle only enough to get the brush to run and this works also. Is there a switch in the head causing this problem?

if you have an extension wand, the replacement will cost about $100.00. there is a way to repair both the pwr-cord on the brush assemble and the wand, but it depends on how much damage there is. also you need to check the contacts where the wand connects with the handle, and the prongs on the handle.

I put 3 turns of electrical tape around the area of the beater bar that meets the vacuum belt. This solved the problem short of replacing the beater bar.

SOURCE: Belt not moving
There are actually two belts on the Dyson DC07. The one belt that you can physically see, and a second belt that connects the clutch assembly to the motor shaft. If you're able to spin the one belt that's attached to the brushes, but the vacuum is not spinning the brush, this can really only be one of two problems. Either the rear belt that connects the clutch to the motor shaft has fallen off, which would prevent it from spinning, or the clutch assembly itself maybe bad. Usually when the clutch goes bad however it will make a terrible grinding noise first.
Here's a video on how you can access your clutch, and inspect the rear belt. Either way you'll need to take it apart to diagnosis it.
Hope this helps you:

Tips for a great answer:

CARPETS OR HARD FLOORS
• The brush bar will always default to 'ON' (spinning) each time you switch the
appliance 'ON' and recline it for cleaning.
• The brush bar will not rotate when the appliance is upright.
• To switch the brush bar 'OFF' (e.g. for delicate rugs and hard floors):
- switch the appliance 'ON'
- recline the appliance
- press the brush bar 'ON/OFF' button - the brush bar will stop spinning.
• The brush bar will automatically stop if it becomes obstructed. See 'Brush bar -
• Before vacuuming your flooring, rugs and carpets, check the manufacturer's
recommended cleaning instructions.
• Some carpets may fuzz if a rotating brush bar is used when vacuuming. If this
happens, we recommend vacuuming in 'hard floor' mode and consulting with
the flooring manufacturer.
• The brush bar on the appliance may damage some carpet types. If you are
unsure, turn 'OFF' the brush bar.
