Question about HP Officejet Pro L7580 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Message "A printhead has a problem:magenta/cyan" is driving me nu

My HP Officejet Pro L7580 DID work perfectly. Now it is useless and no matter how hard I try, I can't fix it. On the monitor and on the front panel of the printer appears the message "The following printhead has a problem: magenta/cyan".I've tried numerous suggested solutions, such as cleaning printheads manually, but to no avail.Several suggestions involved performing operations from the front panel of the printer but like a monster grinning at me, the only thing I see is the dreaded message and the yellow light flashing. Print cartridges have adequate ink supply.

Any ideas to assist this frustrated 69-year old grandmother will be greatly appreciated.

This problem occurred several weeks ago. My husband is ready to put the printer on the trash pile so I thought I'd give it one more try. All ink cartridges are at least 3/4 full. The printhead problem resulted over night, but not immediately after changing ink. In fact, at first the message indicated two printheads had problems; then it changed to one - the magenta/cyan. I'm certainly not an expert but it appears the cartridge and printhead are not connecting, if that makes any sense. Regardless of the outcome of my problem, I sincerely thank you for considering it.

There maybe a control panel problem. Before discarding try uninstall and reinstall the printer. Good luck.

Hi Gran, I think these cartridges have print head built into them just change the cartridges that are reported magnta and cyan and i think it should rectify itself Often the simple solution is the one thst works and msany people look at all the hightech answers without considering the message that is given.
You can check the situatioin by removing the cartridge aqnd checking if there is what lkookjs like a circuit board with holes at the base of the cartridge This will be the print head. try wiping with alcohol first and then replace or put in a new one (only 1 first) and seeing iof its just the nesxt color being the problem

See ya

this sounds simular to the photosmart C7250 ink system failure. which cause by air in the lines. and we fix this by reseting the printer and it redoes the cartridge installation. thus pushing all the air out.

LOOKING FOR THE FELTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PRINT HEAD CARRIAGE.(1 IS MISSING) PRINT HEADKEEPS DRYING OUT. I'VE LOOKED EVERYWHERE ON LINE. ALL THE PARTS PLACES DON'T SEEM TO KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT....

hello, yes i do know what your talking about, sometimes paper will get blocked into this capping/purge/cleaning station, out of all the ones i have here, the one side for the cyan/magenta #88 printhead, there is no pad there. is it the cyan/magenta printhead thats drying up, or is it the yellow/black printhead. i would check to make sure that this unit is working 100%. i do know that this machine has issues with the electronics for the printheads, as well as the printheads seem to only last a few months after warranty, though, i have seen some last 1 year after warranty, but i would check to make sure there is nothing in the way of the capping unit, paper will get caught in there and some gears will break. i hope this helps

My HP Officejet Pro L7780 All-In-One InkJet Printer was jammed with paper. I believe I got it all out and now the display reads" Printhead problem- the following printhead has a problem: magenta/cyan...

There are two possibilities here Joanne, first, it could be a false error message or else second, the Cyan/Magenta print head has gone bad.Try the following:
1. Take the Cyan/Magenta printhead out. Remember, the printhead...not the cartridges.
Clean the copper contacts with a Q Tip, moistened with plain water. Wait till it dries, put the printhead back in.
2. If this does not resolve the issue, unplug the power cord from the back and press and hold the power cord for 30 sec. This will drain all the static charges. Plug it back after a couple of minutes and see if the error message re appears.
