Question about Generic TekNmotion TM-YB100A Yapster Universal Stereo Gaming Headset

Open Question

My generic TekNmotion TM-YB100A Yapster headset's mic is mute.

Rather, my computer "sees" there is a mic, but i can't seem to be getting any sound input on it.It is a bit worn out from being in a bookbag, and the headphones themselves are fine. Where should I look for problems?

My headset is not wireless. the built-in mic isnt working

Did you check it is inserted in the Mic socket and not Auxillary Inout which is the other socket on the back of your computer?

Also go to Control Panel/Sound and check that the settings don't have the microphone Muted. You can sometimes get to this location quicker if you have the speaker icon down on the right side of the screen by the clock. Just double click it.

WILL THIS HEADPHONE/MIC SET WORK ON A SMART PHONE THAT ONLY HAS ONE 3.5MM FEMALE JACK. YOUR SITE DOESN'T SHOW THE EMD OF THE CORD IF THERE IS ONE OR TWO MALE JACKS. Question. I decided to give them a call, and the rep confirmed that there are two jacks at the end of the cord one for audio out, the other audio in.
This product would not necessarily work on a single jack smart phone due to the dual 3.5mm jacks.
Hope this helps

Don't think its the drivers, because you can hear audio.

Do you have your mic with your headset or separatedly? If with headset, maybe your headset has a physical switch where you can enable/disable mic (seen this feature on some Locitech headsets).

You can also check whether you have Mic muted in your audio control panel. Go to Control Panel, open Sounds and Devices and File - Properties if I remember correctly (sorry, I have Vista now) and put a check before Mic property to bring out the Mic volume level bar to see whether it's muted or not.

Hope this helps,

I can hear great but the mic doesn't seem to work. Is there no resolution for this?

I need more info dude, first make sure its not your sound on your computer, you could have your mic muted and you didnt know it, or, try going to your control panel and actually setting up your mic. If its not muted there, i'll need more info, how long have you had the mic, what program are you using to talk to others/record.

Head set problem with vista

you will need to go into the sound manager in control panel and make sure that the external mic is enabled as the default use and ensure in the sound settings that the mic is not muted, this is normally done by right clicking the speaker icon in the taskbar and selecting options and see if the mic is muted or not in the properties
