Button could also be labeled "wide" "vmode" or similar, otherwise it's in the menus or need a newer remote.

I don't think you can. There is a disc space limitation. You simply can not compress information this much.

THE SCREEN WAS TURNING GREEN THEN IT WONT P0WER UP BUT THE POWER LIGHT WORKS IS THIER A RESET FOR THE TV

If the TV comes on but the screen wont, try pressing
  1. Press Menu on remote
  2. Press Select (Defaults to video)
  3. Arrow down 9 times (Reset Video Settings)
  4. Press Select twice (I think) or you may have to Arrow down and Press Select.
Otherwise, contact Hitachi support @

I have an older Hitachi 36'' Ultrvision TV. It has worked fine for years up until resently. The problem that I am having is I can not get the direct TV signal to come in. The out from the Direct TV box...

Sounds like you have something in the wrong setting that won't allow the signal to get through. If the video 1 line works OK but regular input will not work, that is almost certainly the problem. I would try just unplugging it (turning it off is not the same thing), let it reset for a few minutes; then plug it back up and see if it will reset by itself. hope this helps.

Too large of screen on hitachi rear projection tv

Some models had a 'zoom' feature on the remote, don't know why only some channels would show and others not. Try unplugging it overnight, maybe it will reset.

Model 51f59a hd widescreen aspect settings dont take and picture too big

I called Hitachi and the solution is in your cable remote not your tv remote. Your tv has a aspect menu as does your cable remote. Based on your cable provider you should have a settings or menu button to change the zoom or aspect of your screen. I had the same problem and have Comcast as cable and this worked for me.

Has he tried both the aspect on the tv remote and for the cable/satelite box both? These both have their own aspect settings.

In the video setting go down to reset. You will only need minor adjustment after a reset.
