Question about 2wire (1000-000005-002) 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter
Hi, I am trying to connect to the internet with my wireless laptop through my Wireless 2Wire router. I can connect using an ethernet cable but need to wirelessly.
The ssid is brodcasting and comes up on my laptop but the connection just fails
Sometimes i can connect to local only and other times it says the security settings are wrong
I have entered the correct WEP encryption and everything
First of all change your router to WPA rather than WEP. WEP is easily cracked now and is not secure. That might be what your laptop is looking at.
Secondly, update the wireless drivers to the current version from the website.
Make sure your router is broadcasting on 'auto' (802.11a/b/g, and N if supported), It ay be broadcasting only on, say 11g and your laptop doesn't support it. Updating the wireless drivers may also fix this.
