Question about Televison & Video
Philips bdp 3100 This DVD player does mot switch off either from remote or on/off button on unit. The tray also will not open. When entering the setup menu, the menu auto scrolls up/down without any prompting from the remote unit. The USB input works fine however and the unit plays from this. The unit did this with the previous firmware (1.54) and I had hoped the new firmware update would clear the problem (ver 1.701) but it has not made any difference. Regards,

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: bdp s350 sony bluray player.
I would just like to add that I have a Sony BDP-S500 player and a Sony TV.
The Sony TV's remote was preprogrammed to control the Bluray player, which i discovered by accident, so I didn't have to mess with universal remote control codes or anything.
Hope that helps.

SOURCE: Trying to update firmware on
I had the same problem and immediately suspected that, as I had downloaded and expanded the .zip file on a Mac, I was suffering from the industry's usual bovine shortsightedness and that I needed to do it on a PC. I did and it worked. So I think the important part is to un-archive the .zip file on a PC, and find the file inside the resulting folder called
Make sure you have just that file on your USB stick, and no folders, and then the player should recognise it. You'll note that Pioneer's instructions don't mention this file name at all. Useless. Wish I'd bought another brand.
