The device observing the cam action in your engine is telling you to be aware of a potential condition that can affect the Valve activity. Everything is timed correctly and all settings are regulated accordingly. The computer is advising you of the engine status and need to pay attention to this.

Been to two different car service shops. Codes come up 16684, Random multiple cylinder miss fire, 16686 is another miss fire, 16518, the O2 sensor 1 bank 1 has no activity and 16725 cam position sensor not...

the parts guys sound like they have a better idea.
misfires are more from low fuel pressures , bad injectors and problem wiring than distributor caps and plugs
problem cam shaft position sensors will cause random misfires if the wiring is faulty or the air gap for the sensor is incorrect
you could help get better answers if you would include make , model year, engine type as those codes are not obd-11 codes and that is confusing

I have a 2001 galant with a 3.0 check engine light came on

I am assuming the engine will run. It could be a wiring problem or the cam and crank are not in sync.
I would need to know the actual codes to give more detail.

check that the cam sensor rotor is on the camshaft properly and is adjusted to the correct air gap

Camshaft sensor

Someone would need to test the cam sensor. The code is probably saying the sensor is not giving the right info to the computer.
You may need a scanner to diagnose it.

Volvo S80 Error Code 014

That is a cam shaft issue. The reason that they say that it might be oil sludge is because of variable valve timing. That system uses oil pressure to vary the cam activity according to the driving conditions.
If you have done regular oil changes on the car, I doubt that it is a oil related issue. You can take it to some place like grease monkey and have the engine flushed to see if that helps. What they are going to do is similar to putting 50/50 oil and diesel fuel in and run it till it gets warm then drop the mix and put in real oil. This is a tough one to diagnose without a scope to check activity on the cam sensor. It could be a flat spot on the cam.

My code says Cam Sensor, I just replaced it and it's still showing the same Cam Sensor code. What can it be? Are there two?

If you have a 3.0 engine in your mazda then there are two cam sensors, one on each head, hope this helps, if you have the 2.3 engine then theres only one.
