It's highly possible that it's either in the carburetor (something holding the float down allowing fuel to fill the carburetor and over flow draining into the cylinders, possible porous float or debris between needle and seat.) Or it could be drawing or sucking it in through the fuel pump vacuum line between the engine and fuel pump. I would be looking into these two areas.

If you have one, fuel solenoid bad or etc. Carb float needs adjusted or hole in it. I installed a fuel shut-off valve, to stop things like this.

Have a Cub Cadet Lt 1050 when you start it, continues to turn over and not start.

Check your oil. Most cub cadets use a kohler engine which will allow gasoline to drain into the crankcase and fill it with gas. The fuel must be shut off on kohlers which can cause unwanted flooding due to a stuck float. You may be surprised when you open the oil check and find gasoline coming out. If not, lightly sand the magneto and the flywheel to make sure you have a spark. If you do have a spark, it is most likely a gasoline issue caused by the flow being stuck in the bowl of the carburetor, causing a Kohler not to start

What would be the cause of a Kohler 25hp twin, backfiring through carb from one cylinder

now the kohler v-twin does have a bit of a problem with camshafts in this size range , your gonna need to remove valve cover on head side that you suspect is bad , verify that valves move in order (one at a time) as you turn over by hand with spark plugs removed (both sides)

Gas in the crankcase is caused by what?

the carb is the culprit. either a stuck float or needle valve and carb are full of gunk preventing it from getting a good vacuum. you will need to remove carb, and flush it out to clean it. may god bless!!
