Zebra printer 140xilll - Too many print jobs?

Hello, we have zebra 140xilll with runs lumber placards out of MS Access database. We have not had any problems with it for at least a year and still going strong. Right now we just have a minor problem. We can print 1 job with 100+ of the same labels with no problem, but when we try to put a 2nd print job in behind it the 2nd print job will print with either little information or the wrong information. I called Zebra and they mentioned storing some permanent info on the printer itself but that will not work for us being our labels are all different. Not knowing to much about this stuff I am guessing it is some sort of memory problem. We would appreciate the help greatly!

Thanks alot for your help. No, I am not using Windows fonts. We have the Weber Legitronic labeling software (easy to use). All of the labels I design I use the Weber scalable font just because it is easier to work with. Yes, I believe that is the advice that Zebra gave us. On that note would you happen to know where to start on creating a template to save on the printer? Actually I can design the template, but I am not sure how to save it to the printer. If you would happen to know where to begin I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanx for your time.

It does sound like you have a memory overload when you send the 2nd print job. Each label is getting sent to the printer and filling up the memory. Make sure you are using the printer resident fonts and not a regular windows font. The windows fonts get sent down as graphics and take up memory. What zebra is saying to do is store the format of the label in the printer memory and then just send down the information that changes. For example if you were printing a UPS label the basic format of the label is the same but things such as the addresses and tracking # would change.

Go to www.zebra.com and download the ZPL programming manual. In there it will show you how to save formats to the printer and then recall them at the time of printing. I am not familiar with the Weber software you are using but I do know that some software packages that I offer have ways of saving formats to the printer. This might be an easier path unless you are familiar with ZPL language.

Zebra printers are not really made to print PDF files, if the only option is PDF I'd recommend switching to print on a laser. Also open the PDF and see if they are correct in the original doc

Do a calibration from the panel and check that your paper remains under the sensors when printing.

Clear print job on Zebra printer

Simply press the PAUSE button then press CANCEL. If you have sent a batch of 500 labels, though, you will have to press CANCEL 500 times. I usually just turn the printer off, cancel the job in the printer driver status box, then wait for all of the error messages to pop up.

Have X3 Zebra 140Xilll printers. These printers will stop printing with a message "Error condition Paper out". But the paper is loaded. Everything seems fine. What can I do? Thanks Steve Rolland

Check and clean the sensors, also the reflective surface. Make sure there are no lables stuck to the reflective surface. Use Isopropyl Alcohol to clean.

The print server has a web access if you know the IP address. You may need to have a Username (root) and password to gain access to what you wish to change.

Zebra printers & MS Word

HI Les1810,

You should be printing faster with Zebra fonts.
Which driver are you using? Version?
I strongly recommend the Zebra Designer V1.3.08, available at Zebra.com

To isolate the problem, capture the output to a file.
Define a local port as C:\output.txt and set that as the port in driver properties.
Now print your document. The printer commands will be in C:\output.txt.

Send c:\output.txt directly to your printer.
For LPT1, use the DOS copy command to send the file. (Copy C:\output.txt LPT1)
For serial connections, use Hyperterm to send the file.
For network connections, use ftp.
No easy USB method is readily available.

Does this print faster than printing the original document from Word through the driver?
If yes, then update your driver.
If no, debug your communication to the printer (LPT1, serial, network, etc.)

Zebra 105 SE Printing Blank Labels

You need the correct driver for the 105Se. The 300 dpi SL driver is not compatible.

Unfortunately, Zebra does not make it's older drivers available online. You will need to locacte someone with the correct driver for whichever version of Windows you are using.
