a universal remote control is programmable without codes using this general process:
push and hold 3 sec the button set up
select the device to control (TV DVD etc)
The tv has to be ON at this step (use the power button in the tv front panel
use the remote control power button and try to get your tv pushing the button again and again and again
Caution! Go slow because when finally the tv turns on you have to push enter in the remote control to save this code that actually is the one the tv needs,
Wow - unbelievable - they should be sued. I just bought a floor model that had been returned. The returnee did not return the remote or the manual, so it appeared to be a great buy. Now i believe they bought it purposely for the purpose of taking out the remote and manual and then returning the pc for a refund. Got on here and saw your post, because we too could not find a remote that would work on this tv/vcr combo. - RIDICULOUS!!!
I called trutech, not an easy number to find, but it is in your manual. they said none of their tv/monitors match up with any universal remote. you have to use the supplied remote only. i bought the floor model, which broke within a year, and it came without a remote. That is why I had to contact them. it was reasonable, $10-12. i will never buy another
I have the same problem as well. I bought 3 different remotes and not one will work with the tv. Although all 3 gave Trutech codes (1116, 1504, and 1713).
