The door switch may not be making contact. All dryers also have a High Limit thermostat that shuts down the dryer when too hot. The high limit thermostat should reset when the dryer is cooled off but may be defective. If the dryer is electric, 110 volts run the drum motor, and the other leg of the 220 line is for the heating element.
I have an Ewave microwave that just did a number of crazy things on it's own. I unplugged it and it reset everything. It has been fine ever since. Give that a try!

by simply turning power off to furnace or air handler may not work but there might be a reset button in the t-stat. remove the faceplate off of the t-stat it might be in their.
Try cycling the switch at the furnace to reset the blower board. If this doesn't work remove the green wire from the blower board(computer board) to eliminate a shorted t-stat or shorted wire between the furance and t-stat. If blower remains on, then blower board is shorted. I've seen all these problems.
