When you have a blinking red indicator, it means that the receiver has DC Offset, meaning a damaged amplifier. All these receivers are 5.1 to 11.1 channels. Usually the subwoofer output is line level; RCA jacks. Any of the other amplifiers can be bad, and until the problems are corrected, the receiver will not turn on, protecting your speaker system and or further damage to the amplifier.

First disconnect all the speakers.

See if the unit will fire up after disconnecting it from the power for 1 hour or more. If it does you have a short in your speaker wiring.

Check your connections and reconnect if it fires up.

Now refer to page 129 of your manual.

If the unit does not fire up, press VCR/DVD, while keeping it depressed press the on button.

"Clear" should appear in the screen.

If clear does not appear or resetting to default does not allow the unit to fire up, then another Onkyblow has bitten the dust and is fried.

If it fires up after setting back to factory default, then you will have to redo your set up from scratch.

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR702 remote problem

So what you're saying is you think the receiver is broken because the remote won't turn it on.

Try fresh batteries or another remote that can be programmed for the Onkyo and get back to us.

SOURCE: one channel not working onkyo tx-sr04

You might have to take a look into the unit, there could be some damage or a bad solder connection on the front left speaker connector at the circuit board, possibly also on any other component (power amp chip / transistors, internal connectors, etc.), also loose or broken wires or oxydized connector contacts inside the unit.

It could be something else as well, but i guess it's worth checking the above mentioned.

Hope you can fix it

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR606 power on default input setting and hissing sound

I had the same problem for more than a year but just lived with it. The solution is to reset the receiver to factory defaults. Page 96 of the owners manual, "turn the unit on and while holding down the VCR/DVR button, press the ON/STANDBY button. CLEAT will appear on the display and the unit will turn off". Problem solved!

How to fix the HDMI board on Onkyo TX-SR608

If you look on the internet HDMI board failure on these Onkyo's seems quite a regular occurence.

Time to scrap the Onkyo and buy something with a better name - like Yamaha, Denon or Marantz.

TX-SR608 Sound but no video. Can see on screen menu. All componets worked fine for a month. No changes were made to since set up.

So the OSD works and we have no info regarding whatever else you have that involves video. You could revisit the setup for the one(s) that aren't working.

How to set-up the audio. I have 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer

It's all explained in the manual.

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

Your subwoofer needs it's own audio power (amp). I'm pretty sure the manuals for the speakers cover their requirements and set-up.
