Question about iRobot Roomba 560 Robotic Vacuum
Is the battery flat?
Posted by Anonymous on
I noticed that when I started disconnecting my charger after it had recharged my Roomba, that it didn't run as long later. So I think that the Roomba needs to be sitting on the charger with the charger plugged in. I would put your's on the charger for two days and see if that does the trick.
How mechanically minded are you? Can you get a voltmeter and check what charge is coming out of your charger now? Can you access the battery and use a voltmeter to check what charge it has?

You should be able to find and download the manual for your IRobot Roomba from this site: http://homesupport.irobot.com/cgi-bin/irobot_homesupport.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=46&p_created=1153496340&p_sid=5dXQ9ZRi&p_accessibility=&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD0xOCZwX3Byb2RzPSZwX2NhdHM9MjUyJnBfcHY9JnBfY3Y9MS4yNTImcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3BhZ2U9MQ**&p_li=&p_topview=1

The iRobot website has all the manuals available on their troubleshooting page. Just search for "manual." You want the 400 series one.

Generally the unit will beep or play the "uh-oh" tone or do something. I wish I could tell you what's going on with this Dirt Dog, but it's not communicating the problem. The best thing to do would be to give us a call when you have the robot with you. That will enable us to do any necessary troubleshooting as well as set up any orders that might be necessary. We're here M-F, 9a-7p, and Saturdays 9-6, EST. 1-877-855-8593 Look forward to hearing from you!

The Roomba has a rechargable Battery. The Roomba battery like any battery will eventually ware out after so many charges and discharges. Mine lasted about three years and then is would hardly hold a charge. I purchased a new battery and then it worked fine after that.
As for not going forward. That is usually due to a dirty bumper sensor. You have to take the Roomba apart for cleaning that. You can take it to Sears and they will do it for you.
