Question about HP DeskJet 845c Printer

1 Answer

It was suggested that I buy a new printer cartridge for my HP Deskjet 845c rather than use a refill, which causes the cartridge light to blink. I did go out and buy new cartridges for both color and black but before I open the packages, I want to know if it's normal for the light to continue blinking even if there are no cartridges in the printer. In case it's something else, I don't wanna eat the price of the cartridges.

There's only a 2 dollar difference between them. I've never installed only one cartridge. There is nowhere in the instructions where it says you have an option to install only 1 cartridge or 2. Will the printer accept 1 cartridge as a valid installation?

O.k. Here she goes. I installed the black cartridge alone and THE BLINKING STOPPED. Then I went ahead and put the color one in. The green light is steady. I can drive now! Thanks guys! You rock the Western hemisphere.

I dont know if anyone has logged this, but i would think that logically the lights would continue to blink until it detects the right amount of ink density and If they are chipped that the chip registers correctly. Ttry installing just one of the cartridges ( the cheaper one)

i suggested this to determine if the flaqshing light under that particular cartridge ceased to blink. i cannot find any reference to blinking between one type of cartridge or the other as no company wants to supply info about dodgy refills and their own overpriced products. in this situation it is unfortunately a **** it and see situation. I would expect that if you now have genuine cartridgs it will work but it is a guess as i said at first

My hp deskjet 845c won't print pink. I've tried two different ink cartridges and no pink ink. Is my printer probably on it's last leg? I have also tried cleaning the print heads...didn't help.

Are you using HP factory new cartridges?

If you are using third party or worse, refilled cartridges, that may well be the cause of your proiblems.

Hp Deskjet 845C - Yellow Colour not Printing

I found this post to work for me when yellow was not printing on my HP PSC750 after using 2 cartridges: "Well if you want to damage your printer use alcohol. But if you want to make it work then pull the cartridge from the printer and run hot water on a couple of paper towels leaving alot of hot water in the towels. Put some thing under them to keep them from staining your counter top and then set the cartridge down onto the hotwater towel and let the hot water melt away the dry ink and in minutes you may be printing again if this is what it is. Be sure and use a dry paper towel to wipe off the ecess wet before you reinstall the cartridge."

Hepl me find and download a driver

Firstly make sure that they are original cartridges as most problems are caused by faulty cartridges. Then clean the gold contacts with a soft cloth. install cartridges and turn machine on hopefully this will work if not then the machine has a carriage fault.

Hope this helps you
Thanks J
