Philips 170s LCD Backlight turns on only 1 sec and than the backlight off. The indicator lamps still green.... anyone can help me? thanks

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Where do i buy the bulb

The best place to buy the lamp is Discount-Merchant.com!

They usually have sales going on, and you'll get the OEM for your TV which is made by Philips Lighting of North America. If you have the original lamp in your TV it's made by Philips... a P22h if you've got an LCD projection.

These lamps should last 2-3 years at minimum.

Always buy from authorized distributors and buy original OEM parts whenever possible.

Ihave a Philips 50PL9126D tv and I just replaced the lamp because the picture was very dark. I can see the picture but it is still somewhat dark, bright in the middle, dark at the edges. I tried to adjust...

Sounds like you may have the wrong lamp. Make sure you purchased a Philips lamp that's 100% compatible with your television model. Philips pioneered that lamp, so naturally they make 100 different types for DLPs and LCD projections.

You may have an elliptical lamp instead of parabolic. The lamp for your TV should read P22h.

Here is a link for a replacement Philips lamp for your TV model. Don't worry if it doesn't say Sony on the box as Philips makes the lamps for Sony anyway. Pleas take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...

some electronic parts dealers are now selling this part. the actual size of the tv is important to have the real size you need. But the real original part maybe only the manufacture can sell it to you

Yellow tinged edges

Your problem is most likely your Blue and Green lens' inside the light engine. It's not something you can replace yourself. I worked for Philips for 14 yrs. repairing the LCD projectors the last 6 Yrs. Call philips and get the number of an ASC in your area that has repaired projectors.
