Question about MSI KT4 Ultra (MS-6590-010) Motherboard

2 Answers

My freind has a custom built computer that's about 6ys old and has been working fine until two days ago when he added a 500gig HD and a 1gig memory card. As soon as he added he turn the machine back on would turn right back off. He repeated this several times with the same result. He removed all upgrades and tried again and finally it stayed on but something fell and hit the bottom of the case, come to find out it's somekind of really small diod and it was so hot that it left a burnt mark on the bottom of the case and stuck to his finger when he tried to pick it up. He has gave this machine to me to fix since I built it for him but I can't figure out where this diod came from. Now, the machine comes on, hd light stays solid and I get no video at all. Will not boot at all. I think he possibly torched his mb somehow but would like second opinion. Also have tried another video card in a pci port and nothing, he has a 64meg agp video card now, any help would be appreciated, thanks

The first to do is remove all of the ide data cables and any pci cards from the motherboard,in case any of the cards are damaged or the hard drives or cdroms are damaged, install the original memory,or re-seat the modules, clear the cmos(remove battery for a few minutes with the power cord removed) then try to turn the system on, if the system still only lights the leds, but no video, try a pci card instead of agp if it still dosen't respond motherboard is shot, its's possible that the ide cable was installed backwards, shorting out the interface or the drive,The other possibility is if the memory modules were not seated properly, and shorted the module or mother board.

Screen freezing and then goes black. batter has a charge. only 1 month old worked fine until now

Since it's only a month old, and you've covered the obvious possibilities with no success, I'd say give Amazon customer support one chance at it (start at <>) and then if still no results send it back for a new one.

I have two Neoware CA21 Thin clients. They both have the same problem. When I turn them on they do not start up, but instead have a rapid beeping. One has not been used since I have had it, but the other...

is Neoware CA21 a Netware? I have not used Netware in awhile.

Anyway, if you are hearing beeping, that generally means you are having a hardware problem. Check all your connections. Pull the cables and make sure there is no debris and reinsert. Remove memory and clean contacts. Vacuum the inside, since you said it has not run for awhile. Check the harddrive(s) in another pc to be sure it will come up.

I will like to upgrade my laptop to the maximum capacity presently it uses 50G HDD 256*2 DD R CPU SPEED IS 1.5GHZ AND CPU TYPE IS Intel celeronR(M)

well the mother board is hard to tell what processors it supports, maximum memory that it can fit is two 1gig chips, one in each slot, for a max of 2gig. thats all the system will support. the hard drive is optional as far as the size needed. largest it will fit is a 500gig HD, look on . that celeron processor is old, and small, it will be hard to find another thats any better, it sounds like its a xp system that may be upgraded..

Plugged old an older HD into my custom pc and now no video appears on screen.? I was trying to help my wife retrieve old photos from her ancient 800mhz hp computer so i took the hd out of her pc and put...

What you need to do is put the old HD in as a spare drive, not replace the one in the computer. Each drive can be either a Master or Slave. The pin settings are usually written on the drive. Once the computer boots to the regular drive, the OS will recongize the spare drive and give you the ability to open it and get your photos off of it. Make sure that when you start the computer that the cables are seated correctly on the board. The Master drive once you set the pin settings on the drive should be plugged into the Primary IDE controller, which is the plug closest to the edge of the board. Then the secondary drive, or slave once you set the pin settings, should go in the secondary IDE controller, which is the one right behind the primary. Then give it a try. Also, the older HD, what is the brand and model, maybe it's not compatible with the Intel board?

Thanks Mark

I intend to install more 1 mega of memory, but motherboard not recognized it (one dimm 1gb pc3200 cl3 184-pin dimm). Of origin the PC it has been installing 2 dimms of 512 and I intend to add +1 dimm of...

The memory may not be compatible depending on the speed. Try taking out all the memory and just installing the 1Gig stick.. does it work?

If it does then the 1Gig stick is fine, but your PC probably doesn't like you mixing different types and speeds of memory.

If it doesn't work, the 1gig memory module might not be the correct speed your PC wants.

I want to upgrade Compaq Presario SR5410F with Video card GE FORCE 8600GT, 512 mb. What are the requirements of DDR Memory (Presently 1GIG AND Power Supply 200Watts). Please explain what to add and take...

To install the 8600GT, turn off your computer, unplug the power cable going to your power supply, remove the side panel of your case, remove the current video card and firmly push the 8600GT into your PCI-Express x16 slot. Now plug in your monitor to the video card’s ports, close up your case, plug in your power cable, and turn on your machine. In BIOS turn off the built-in video and enable the PCIe slot for use. Restart. Insert the included installation CD and follow the onscreen instructions. The power supply is small but should work as long as you have not added other items. The memory is adequate and does not matter as far as adding a video card is concerned. Some games may require more memory, however.

PC won't boot on customn built machine

Sounds your motherboard is gone, my solution to you is to remove the hard drive, place it on another computer as a secondary drive or slave and go into my computer and you will see your hard drive there as secondary ,, now you can go in to it and save your data to a disk or do a back up onto a cd. please advice.
